Rotating game mode queue now live!

From the original clone-tastic One For All to the frenetic manatee magic of Ultra Rapid Fire, featured game modes provide unique spins on the classic League formula. It’s time to kick things off with the next game mode in the rotation: Ascension is now live!

As a refresher on the mode, let’s go over the basics:

  • Unlike Summoner’s Rift, you can’t walk out of your base to reach the battle; you’ll have to use the Golden Transcendence trinket or right-click a pad to teleport into the fray
  • Earn victory by scoring points; the first team to 200 takes it down
  • You earn 1 point for kills, 3 for capturing a Shuriman relic, 5 for landing the killing blow on an Ascended champion, and 2 points for each kill you acquire while Ascended
  • Claim Ascension by taking down Ancient Ascendant Xerath in the center of the map (he’ll respawn after the Ascended champion dies)
  • Be cautious when approaching the Ascendant, you'll need your whole team to battle him and claim the buff
  • The Ascension buff yields awe-inspiring power including bonus health and infinite mana, AD & AP, CDR, as well as armor and magic pen
  • The gifts of Ascension come with a price: healing and regeneration effects are halved and the opposing team always has vision on Ascended champs

We did touch up the visuals slightly while specially tuning Champion Mastery so you can earn points in the mode. You’ll also be able to earn keys for your wins and loot chests for your (or your premade’s) S­-, S, and S+ games.

Ascension is now available and lasts through the evening on Monday (we’ll shut it down very early Tuesday morning--usually between 1:00 AM and 3:00 AM).

We’ll be trying out different things with the rotating game mode queue over the next few months such as, changing the mode cadence or what modes are available. We’re looking for your feedback as we go, so let us know. GLHF, and we’ll see you on the sand-strewn battlefield of Ascension!

ascension: run around not knowing what to do. hexakill: have an extra person tell you your bad. definitely not dominion: literally is dominion. legend of the poro king: just aram.

Am I the only one who thinks that Legend of the Poro King is kind of a garbage gamemode since there are snowballs and ARAM? It's kind of also ruined by people building full poke teams.

Looks like Riot was not kidding when they said we will only get URF 2 times this year. Even though there is nothing stopping them from putting it again, it seem they enjoy watching their customers suffer.

I feel like they decided that after the last URF, that Taliyah was too broken in URF and they wont bring it back.

But seriously. URF NEEDS TO COME BACK. All these other game modes are soulwrenchingly boring.

So we can see what is instore for us around halfway into the next month, and yet there is no U.R.F.? We had no U.R.F. in June it isn't even there halfway into the next month. I just really want to play it because it is my favorite gamemode and one of my only ways to do fun stuff with my siblings. It's just one of the best things Riot has brought us, and one of the only way I feel comfortable doing solo queue ever since team builder was removed. Sincerely, An upset League fan

I think Riot should allow every game mode to be accessible through custom game. They could still have the rotation of game modes on the public level, but I don't think that means you should have to lose access to your favorite ones.

First off, you need to recognize that people are more outspoken about what they dislike than what they like. I like having a variety of game modes, but I'm not gonna go around yelling how great this is. If I hated it, then I'd be more inclined to post my opinion. In particular, there are many people who like this setup (just as there are many who hate it).

Secondly, I joined League 2 years ago. There was no URF, there were no intro bots, there were no featured game modes, and certainly not a clear and responsive Riot support team. Recognize that League has greatly advanced and try not to take things for granted.

*I'm just putting some counterweight to what others are saying, and giving a different perspective.

I like the variety they have. However, I'd like if they have: Less Hexakill, added Doom Bots and Black Market Brawlers to the queue. I absolutely resent hexakill and legend of the poro king, but what can you do? Waiting on Nexus Siege, new game modes are always cool. But stop forcing us to play hexakill, it was back after only 2 weeks. Meanwhile, the highly requested URF hasn't been here for over a month.I'm not saying make urf permanent, then it wouldn't be special. It would be like having ARAM in the rotating game mode queue after a while. To summarize this long and annoying rant, More of the new gamemodes new to the queue, less hexakill. Please just, less hexakill. I hate it.

I would be more inclined to play these random game modes if the schedule was a bit more fair. The last URF mode was back in early to mid may. It looks like we wont have another until August.

Why do ascension and legend of the poro king come up like every week? A)URF is way better you need to do that more like every other month at least B)Vary your game modes you have plenty to choose from DOOMBOTS! BLACK MARKET BRAWLERS! NEMESIS! SIEGE MODE! <--- and that ones not even that good but its an option C)Why call this rotating game mode if youre not rotating all your modes D)For gods sake do hexakill on rift not twisted treeline.

Dear Riot,

You said that you will do those "extensions" on the past couple of gamemode rotation posts based out of feedback from players...you have to learn to keep your word.Urf has been the most fun game mode that you,YOU riot have made and I seriously just want it at least 1 time a month

Alright I'll accept poros for days but a new form of dominion and hexakil? Not saying it's bad but it's just not interesting. I've tried to make hexakill fun but the only fun I see is if you get a HEXAKILL and new Dominion is just as confusing as the other and it's not fun for me or my friends. AGAIN, im not saying they are bad for everyone just it's not intersesting*[slayer-pantheon-popcorn]*
