We’re turning to familiar ground with the next Featured Game Mode! We’ve hosted Hexakill on Twisted Treeline before, but this time we’re adding in BANS to the mix. Now you can kick out those pesky champs who wreck you while you capture those all-important altars, or just throw a ban at Teemo. Because, well... Teemo.

Runic Legends34 votesThanks for putting it on TT! When it is on summoner's rift, it doesn't feel very different, and there's just one extra player to steal your xp/cs/jungle. Another reason, is that SR is so much bigger than TT that it isn't as fun I bet, after you put it on TT. But TT is so much smaller, so there's more action, and fun packed into smaller time, so you can keep trying different champions, without having to go through the whole laning phase, like SR.

Nykyrian2 votesHmmm that seems awk....cuz you'd only have minions pushing into the side bases one at a time .. after there is only two team left and would have to wait for minions to walk all the way around the map in some instance. and what about the mid lane minions? they would have to be scripted for the mashup in mid lane etc etc. @_@

Also taking the game modes out and putting them back in give riot new ways to make money. Like 250 RP urf icon or maybe a skin, like that urf warwick or urf the nami-tee. Thats why i think, not sure if that's the real reason.

The game modes serve multiple purposes one being that they bring back players that may have quite the game because it was getting old. The game modes offer a bit of refreshing fun, but if they were to keep them permanently they wouldn't be new and cool. The lcs might be another reason, considering they put so much effort into creating these massive events, why have competitive play if no ones playing the actual game?

Cosnirak25 votesImagine if they kept Hexakill, URF, DoomBots, and Ascension on all the time. They would have long queues because people would be split among so many different modes. It'd lengthen the queues for the stuff we have now too.
And it'd start to fragment the community. Just like right now some people play almost exclusively ARAM, TT, or Dominion. You would get people who play almost nothing but Hexakill.
And their queues would be very long. And they'd get very dedicated to that mode. And want balance changes for the imbalances that people would eventually notice from it being played all the time.
Do you see how it goes in the long run? It's better to get everyone to join a special game mode for a short while at once.

ajulieinajar2 votesI think this is really key, actually. Currently they focus champion kits for SR. They certainly take into consideration other maps, but I think it simplifies, for them, to have a primary map with a primary mode. You can have outliers and bring in temporary game options, but ultimately you want to be able to use your resources to focus efforts, not fragment them.

Strongest point made so far.
URF is crazy. Thats why it's temporary. They always disable champs and nerf heals. There's a lot more they would have to do to balance it out to make it permanent. It's supposed to be the OMGWTF moment of fun for everyone. You can't sustain that.
