DirkTarTar4 votesActually in the english language, pronouncing "ei" as "eye" is the rule not the exception. The exception to the rule would be pronouncing "ei" as "ay" or "ey." It just so happens that the exception to said rule is used more often in more common words than the actual rule is. English blows as a language
However... League of Legends is set in a fantasy world where the "rules of english" don't necessarily apply and Riot can say that any name is pronounced however they please.
The only one that bugs the literal piss out of me is "Cassiopia" instead of "Cassiopeia." THERE'S A FKIN EEEEEEEEEEEE IN IT
<EDIT> Cassiopeia is a great example of the "ey" vs "eye" argument. Because neither apply.
Cyfiero2 votesReally? O.o in the International Phonetic Alphabet /ei/ represents "ay" while /ai/ represents "eye." If you sound it out, "ah+ee" (ai) is closer to "eye" when slurred together while "eh+ee" (ei) is closer to "ay" when slurred together. I already mentioned this above. I'm not aware if in English there's an official rule where the two are reversed.

Akali and Shaco at least I had thought of the other way and just felt the way I sounded it above seemed more natural. I never thought once of Nas-us though and even knowing now that's how it should be pronounced I can't make myself do it. It just sounds so wrong!
Better just call him Susan from now on I guess...

The name LeBlanc is often pronounced like this in last names but surprisingly in the champion spotlight they pronounce it differently, I thought this was worth mentioning.
