League Friends - Now with News

Greetings summoners,

Two years ago we launched League Friends, a mobile app designed to connect League players with their fellow summoners while outside of the game. Since launch, millions of you have installed and used the app and we are grateful for all of your feedback and support!

We are now looking at how we can improve and build on the League Friends experience.

As an initial first step, we are adding News to the app, which will pull the latest League of Legends news articles and serve them on your mobile devices. You can also choose to enable push-based notifications to stay up to date with the content you care about most.

The News feature is currently available to League Friends users (in regions where the app is available) on both the iOS and Android stores.

This is just the start of our plans for the app and we would love to hear what you think, as well as any cool ideas or features you would like to see in the future.

You can provide feedback through the app via the settings menu, or post comments below.

ADD LEAGUE VOICE TO MOBILE FOR THOSE WHO DON’T HAVE MICS ON THEIR COMPUTERS OR OTHER ISSUES.

List of nice things to add

  1. Be able to Send invites
  2. Allow party chat via the app.
  3. Be alerted when a friends game is finished.
  4. Spectator mode ( I know it's difficult and most likely a long ways off if at all but hey you asked!)

I would also like to be able to buy and spend RP through the app, sometimes a new skin is released while I'm at work and it would be convenient to buy it from my phone

It would be nice if we could spectate our friends games through the app. Don't know if that's possible but maybe just the bare minimum.

[sg-ahri-2] I know riot would not want to do this but I WOULD LOVE THEM FOR DOING THIS if u can make like a mobile game of league so u can play with friends from either computer or mobile Cuz ya c I got my computer taken away for i dont know how long but I have my tablet so it would make me happy and maybe other ppl to do this yea I know u can't do this but just askin

Add just about everything you could do in the league client to League Friends. Excluding the Play button and queing up. Going for most important to would be nice would be...

  1. The Shop (Things such as being able to buy chamions and skins, to redeeming AND purchasing Rp through Mobile. Adding this feature to League friends would make life so much easier after buying an RP card and being able to redeem it right there and then.)

  2. Loot (Loot makes sense to be added next if shop is on League Friends)

  3. Patch Notes (Yeah yeah, I could search up 8.?? Online and click on the new patch notes but it would be much more convienient to open League Friends and tap “Patch Notes”... Thats two whole taps right there”)

  4. League Voice (Its a far stretch but i would love to see it. This would be great for those who cant use league voice on their Comp due to issues or no Mic. This might be difficult to add because then you would also have to add League Party Chat if you were to add League Voice).

  5. Champion Stats and Their Skins (It would be awesome if I were in a match amd my lane opponent would be Pyke. I’d want to know what his base stats are for his Ultimate. Sooo... I would open League Friends, Go to the Champions tab, Find Pyke and read his Ultimate to see its scaling and its base stats at level 6-11-16). Kinda cool.

  6. Missions Notifications (Waking up to check my phone and see “MISSION: PLAY A MATCH WITH A CHAMPION FROM MOUNT TARGON ON EITHER TEAM AND WIN” Prize: Exclusive Mount targon Icon. Would sure motivate me to get off my bed and play a matches of league... Saw this comment in this post and would also like it to be added)

I was looking for a reason to open this app, tbh; I have it, but I don't message my friend in it, mostly because no one ever uses it.

Features that get people to just be in the app makes it much more likely we'll actually communicate with each other. Great idea!

Finally. Been waiting for an RSS feed for official news, but this is even better. Still wish it had proper notification support for Android Auto and Android Wear to reply from those interfaces.

I know some of these thinngs may not be possible but theyre just suggestions so i will give you my ideas and riot can then decide what is possible and what is not. 1.be able to turn on notifications when certain friends end games. This would be useful for when you want to go downstairs to eat or something but u dont want to miss when ur friend is done 2. Spectator mode. It doesnt even really have to be like the in game spectator just maybe somethingg that would show u the scores and gold or something. 3. Adding the shop. Not only making it able to purchase champions or skins through the mobile app but also being able to buy rp through mobile that way if u have a gift card for itunes or the app store you would be able to spend it on league and not some mobile game. 4. Being able to join partys and then join vc through mobile may help a ton of people out.

Maybe changing your mood message through the app would be nice, and although it would be a little bit of work, maybe spectating games in the app would be nice too! (´∀｀)

Edit rune pages, go to Hextech loot, have access to the shop and buy stuff and browse through there, maybe have a way of buying rp with iTunes/ Google play gift cards. And if possible (probably never will happen) spectate other people’s game. Those are some of my suggestion and some are from other people’s as well. ;) EDIT: Also it would be nice if there was a collection tab. :p

Literally can't use the news portion because it keeps jumping down to news from years ago.

Would love to be able to see old esports schedule without spoilers! It's difficult to find a schedule once the games have already happened.

Add some possilibity with the club for exemple: Being able to add people in it Choose officer Kick people ect
