Honor Capsule update delivers new drop rate

We’re adding some bad luck protection to Honor Capsules to make their drop rate more reliable. We’re also sharing the updated rules around drops because we found our lack of clarity disturbing. Here’s how Honor Capsule drops work now:

You have a chance to earn an Honor Capsule with every key fragment drop.
Your chances for getting an Honor Capsule double each week as you play games.
You’re guaranteed an Honor Capsule within two months.
Your drop rate resets after getting a capsule.
You can only earn one capsule every three weeks.

This update is now live. We’re looking forward to sharing more updates to Honor.

I'm 2/2 so far. I'm a bit sad they're not going to drop as frequently (one every 3 weeks minimum) but I suppose it's better people who never got any get one guaranteed.

...Still bull I get 450 champs so easily out of honor capsules instead of hextech chests.

I got bard in my first one and gray warwick in my second. It's just bad luck. But I agree, 450 champs should not be included

Feelsbadman. my first capsule contained the twitch skin, and twitch champion since i didn't have him. and that was the same day i hit H4

Soraka Thanks! I just sent a complaint a few days ago because I was so tired of never receiving capsules despite consistently earning honor and learning that a toxic player got 2 capsules in one week. I have more keys than I will EVER need. Seems like the system needed some work, so I am eager to see how this pans out!

While all of this is good. I feel like there should also be a heavy protection for those of us who've gotten all the champions. Specifically for honor capsules. As they feel pretty much the same as opening a standard box... Which is why I'm still getting champ shards out of all of em. Like... Why? Honor feels frustrating to upkeep if you are only let down at the end of it.

Riot doesn't care about accounts with all champions unlocked, as evidenced by their continuous negligence toward providing players like us with any kind of option other than champion shards we don't need.

First with blue essence and now with honor capsules. Makes me laugh.

Overwatch, HoTS, and Dota all give more free stuff than League does. The entire honor system is a blatant copy of Overwatch's post-game and theyre even copying the Loot Box system ver batim instead of their own spin with Hextech Crafting. So while free stuff is nice, it's not as much as they could give. like every champion in the game for free, to start.

I prefer unlocking champions, though, I'm just being open about it.

Honestly, I don't think I would have been able to play League for these (upcoming) three years if all champions were unlocked. I need a sense of progression that I can see (leveling up/unlocking champions). Grinding for runes was grueling though, so I'm glad they're being changed.

Well im still playing league and I've had all Champs and enough rune pages I could need since Gnar. Now I have 15,000 IP after buying every IP item I could get my hands on, including 4 troll rune pages last month. For me it's about my self-progression. Every noticeable improvement in skill and strategy is why I play. Even if it can't get me past silver (send help)

"The entire honor system is a blatant copy of Overwatch's post-game" in overwatch you honor enemies and allies alike based on their damage done, blocked, healed, etc but in league you honor allies and only allies for being good team mates

besides, league had the honor system long before overwatch's inception

You can still earn chests and keys (if you're willing to/capable of earning an S on a champ you never play) just like before the capsules were added.

Keys are only earned through Honor now, afaik. Only chests are earned through performance now.

Are you sure that's the case? I know my sense of time might just be skewed but I could have sworn I got two within a two week margin..

...unless if that wasn't there before and that's just how the updated one works. Ignore me if that's the case.

It was possible to get multiple in a single week but as of this posting it will only be once per 3 weeks.

Getting at most 1 honor capsule every 3 weeks feels pretty bad, especially when my last one gave me an Ashe champion shard and two key fragments. I own every champion.

they are changing everything into Blue essence and for a short while ther will be a blue essence store for skins. ip is transfering 1:1 but currently owned BE will be multiplied by roughly 6.5... start hording that stuff

Any word on compensating those who already had Grey Warwick and Medieval Twitch before you brought them back? Seems unfair that people who did a ton of work to get them gets nothing in return.

You mean tell your friends to play to get a free skin? Honestly I've brought so many people to league long after that system was retired, all they did was take a process earned skin and stick it to another process. Your compensation is that you had it longer.

I brought a ton of people into it before they even had a recruiter reward back in the early beta and season 1... but that's irrelevant. The point is that simply "having it longer" is not compensation in the least.

Time is money. Spending time recruiting players takes a lot of time, especially when you've recruited nearly a hundred players before rewards were given for it.

Just because someone didn't spend money on something doesn't mean they shouldn't get compensation. By that logic they should give no IP refunds at all for people who bought runes ever. Because it was just IP and not RP, right?

I hit level 5 first among my friend group, haven't gotten a single Capsule. My friend who just hit lvl 5 has gotten 4 so far since the new honor system launched.
