Vote for a charity by 11/5 at 11:59 PM PT

Riot··3 votes·11,858 views

Here’s your last chance to vote in-client for the charity you support the most. We’re matching 25% of sales from Championship Ashe and the 2017 Championship Ward in a charity fund. The highest-voted charity will get half the donation, and the other two will split the remainder. As of two weeks ago, the total donation pool was $1,850,000, and it’s still growing.

The global charities support mental health care, access to education, and access to technology. You can learn more about BasicNeeds, Learning Equality, and The Raspberry Pi Foundation in our announcement post.

Vote in-client under the “Vote for Charity” tab. Each player gets one vote, which will be multiplied based on the player’s Honor level. We’ll announce the winner and the donation each charity receives later this year.

Voting ends on November 5, 2017 at 11:59 PM PT.

Can you point to any third-party evaluations of these charities' effectiveness? They all seem like good causes but I've had no luck tracking down any independent verification of how well they're translating dollars into progress on their respective missions.

Hey there! Since two of the nonprofits are actually based in the UK, it's a bit hard to find a single verification site to compare all three nonprofits.

To your point though, we take this issue very seriously and actually spent months reviewing each org's financial statements (3 years worth), confirming their program outputs, as well as creating specific budgets and project plans for how they spend to plan the funds (including salary, program expenses, and the like). We chose these three orgs because we strongly believed we can create great outcomes and we will have full transparency into how the funds are actually put to use (which we plan to share back with you all).

All of the orgs have publically posted their financial statements, so you can easily pull up the docs and see how / where they spend their funding if you're a total financial geek like me...

Please choose basic needs. Mental illness can effect anyone and tear people's lives down for reasons that are really difficult to understand. It has the most stigma surrounding it, and relates quite directly to not living well domestically and in a society. Help cure it to empower individuals in order to get people out of poor situations, and also to have society respond better to prevent and aid struggling individuals instead of shunning them.

This^ I cannot stress this more than enough. Having suffered from a suicidal attempt myself and having had League be a huge prop for me post recovery (it let me stay in contact with my friends out of school and hang out with them) this was huge. Mental illness may seem ridiculously strange to some and it was to me, but having grown out of it there was nothing else for me except my family, friends, and League.

Only logged in to reply that this is the one I support wholeheartedly. Please don't forget it's not just about the ones with mental illnesss, they also work with epileptics and there aren't many charities that do. As someone who has been epileptic since children, I support this cause and urge others to do that same.

I'm still deciding my vote based on "who cares most for South America?" (and Brazil in special), and the short answer is none of them. It's the continent with fewer resources of them all, but at least Basic Needs says that they plan to expand to it. Probably the one I'll go for.
