We're launching some new social features throughout the 2016 season to make it easier to play with friends. Enter the League Friends app, which you can download (for free!) right now on Android and iOS.

IT'S A FRIENDS LIST IN YOUR POCKET

With the League Friends app, you don't have to be tethered to a 150-pound, hydrogen-cooled gaming rig just to talk shop with your ranked squad. We polymorphed your buddies, and now they fit in your pants.

NO MORE MISSED INVITES

Push notifications let your homies reach you when they're jonesing for a game. You can turn notifications off to ignore folks, like that one friend who won't stop playing Singed even though they feed hard as him.

GET HYPE FOR NEW 2016 SEASON SOCIAL FEATURES

The app lets you see your friends list, add new pals, and chat one-on-one at launch, but expect it to add features over time, evolving as League of Legends does.

The League Friends app is coming out in NA and OCE today, and we'll roll it out to other regions over the next few weeks. You can also send us feedback about your experience with it directly through the app by visiting the settings tab and selecting "Bugs and Feedback."

Note: The app works with devices using iOS 8.3 or newer or Android 4.1.1 or newer (API 16).

So, this app allows one to to communicate with friends... can it (in the future) allow for spectating? Also, and this one is something I would find fun, can we be able to gain extra IP for walking during the day if we turn on a feature on it to allow such a thing (toggles on for IP, toggles off for no need). This can then be transferred over to our accounts to help buy things with IP. We can gain like 1 IP per every 10 steps we take, so since on average I take about 3,560 steps a day, I'd only get about 356 IP per day.

Riot should offer a free skin when you install this app (like the Garen/Tristana/Alistar ones) like they do for subscribing to Facebook/Twitter/Youtube

Overall, this is an amazing start with this app. The layout of this design is very user friendly and the design matches really well with the League Client. I love the fact that you can view yours or your friends' profile to see what ranking they are in along with their status (whether if they are online, away, or which kind of game they are in and how long they have been in game for). I enjoy the fact that there is a chat history in here and can copy and paste the text into the writing section.

However, there is one slight issue I have with the app at this time. When someone messages you while you are on the app, it is about a 2-3 minute delay until there is a notification shown on your phone that someone has messaged you on League. This doesn't happen always but it does happen frequently and there's the possibility that some other users might demand for a quicker response than this.

Overall, I still believe that this is a very great app despite the little bug it has and I feel like that overtime, this app can even become better with other features such as spectating their friends' games or the ability to enter into champion select in order to save some time and multitask a bit before they head back to their computer. Those are just some possible suggestions but if you believe that the purpose of this app is only for messaging friends, then that is understandable as well. Thank you again, Riot Games for making this app and I maybe (and hopefully) I'll be able to work with you guys in the future or help out in any other way. Best of luck to you all.
