It is finally here? Sion lives again (again)?! This looks like a good relaunch so far. Sticks with his story and makes it more dramatic.

Red Riding Lamb2 votes

Yeah its totally Sion now that you mention it lol

AbiwonKenabi2 votes

I agree. The way they present this I feel like they kept his background mostly the same, just expanded upon it and made it cooler; which I am totally on board with!

The Reverse Raz4 votes

Oh jeez, Sion has become Gregor Clegane, the Mountain That Rides.

"JARVAN THE THIRD! FIRST I MAIMED HIS SQUALLING WHELP! THEN I REAPED HIS GUARDS. AND THEN I SMASHED IN HIS FKING HEAD! LIKE THIS!"

AbiwonKenabi2 votes

I thought it might be a previous Jarvan he killed, like Jarvan II or Jarvan I. He is an old soldier after all (assuming most of his lore is the same, which I think some elements are).

I believe in this Sion update. I hardly play him, but now I shall play him once more. Just like the thousands that will be like me #noobsionsincoming

By the way, it's definitely not Sion.

Sion died disgracefully, as he was captured and executed by Demacians. He was only brought back because he was a big strong guy who knew how to carve people up and little else.

EDIT

Damn, it's probably Sion. At least we'll see him on the fields again, if only for a while.

sigh

A Boojum Snark2 votes

Was that something in the JoJ? His in-game lore doesn't explicitly state anything about it being disgraceful, just that he was captured and beheaded.

Dman417862 votes

Plus, we know that Riot is currently rewriting a lot of champion lore. If it is Sion, I don't see a reason that they wouldn't update his lore as well.

Insipid Lipid1 votes

True, but they're all garbage in my opinion. Less than a paragraph? Pfff.

Dman417861 votes

That's why I'm excited. As much as I liked SOME of the older lore, I am enjoying the ties they are creating in the new ones. I can do things like flesh out the connections they have created, likeLucian 's backstory before/during his encounter with Thresh. But that's a different forum entirely.

Noxus only brings back soldiers of great merit. I doubt they would bring back Sion if he wasn't well-respected. Also, they had to risk a lot just to recover his remains; they wouldn't do that for someone who died in disgrace.

Insipid Lipid1 votes

Respected for strength, and although he probably killed a bunch of dudes, he still got his ass captured and beheaded.

He Who is Pale1 votes

So did William Wallace and Joan d'Arc. Even the best soldier has a bad day and a soldier has the riskiest bad days.

Sion FULL STACKED item 3070 Hope he can be ad and ap, i love sion ad inmortal late game, but i also love the ap instakill, cant decided!

ToughFluffs1 votes

The story sounds oddly reminiscent of Urgot's lore, I think? The faction obviously being Noxus. Interested to see where this goes.

Ninja Edit: I realized a few seconds later that it could definitely be Sion, as Boojum stated. There's a double-bladed axe in the hand of the statue after all.

LaBaladuer1 votes

Chopping heads off reminds me of Darius. Are we looking at a new ultimate skin o.O

AbiwonKenabi1 votes

Seeing as we already know Darius has a legendary skin in the works (Dunk Master Darius), I doubt it. Also, it more resembles Sion, especially since there's a memorial for him--he died, then came back.

Wow, took a long, hard look at all the code on that page and I can't figure out what is going on. Damn, Riot. You're putting on a show today. Regardless, I found the audio.

If that's alright with you, Riot, it's a nice song.

I need more Riot, you can't do this to me!

while it would be cool if it was the scion update. don't Visual / gameplay reworks have a little less promotion behind them? i remember all the past reworks being a single blog post.

Dman417863 votes

They've talked about his rework being a major overhaul. So, depending what it winds up being, he could be essentially a whole new champion. And it's been so long anyway, maybe their trying to make it worth the wait.

Phoenix Kotori 1 votes

Sejuani & Trundle got quite a big on due to it being timed with Lissandra release.

Perhaps we're seeing something similar here?

Yashawn1 votes

Oh man! Come on riot, don't tease me with this and not make it scalable to view on my smartphone at work. LOL

PentaWatt1 votes

R.I.P. in pepperonies JarvanIV You shall no longer be "helping"

Ikiimoni2 votes

I think it was talking about one of the Jarvans before him. I could see it as Jarvan III being killed, rather than Jarvan IV.

PentaWatt2 votes

Yes perhaps...

R.i.p jarvans 1-3

There is also the Leblanc is JarvanIV Idea( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k0dBvCNk4qA )

ITS A CONSPIRACY!!!

Sion Rework Confirmed.

Chaoscontrol1 votes

Sejuani , Trundle and Karma got a "Traditional Skin" for everyone who owned them, before their overhaul. I really hope Sion will also get one with his old sound files. I like the Monkey Island and Arnie references.

Can anyone else not see the rest of the story apart from 'Memorial'? I heard there were two others called 'Seeds of Doubt' and 'Proclamation'. Why can't I view those two?

Syllin2 votes

hold ctrl + scroll down on your mouse wheel if you cant see the little tabs underneath. you can cycle between the three sections by clicking on them.

IllIlIlIlIllIIlI1 votes

Notice the clever placement of the Axe handle, giving the illusion of a fleshless, boney, forearm (like Sion currently has). Or am I over analysing the image?

Tony Tomato1 votes

No, your not over analyzing the image. I, myself, actually had to do a double take to that right arm to make sure that it wasn't actually part of Sion's forearm bone. But imagine if that was done intentionally foreshadow a change in his concept design? Like his axe being grafted to his arm?

Dr Squish1 votes

This was pretty much obviously Sion... When I first saw it I was like "Sweet new melee champ!" Then I saw "Reborn" and that he had a double sided axe... I still had hope until I saw it said his corpse was reanimated then I was like "Fuck." He's a fun champ though but he's probably going to get nerfed in the update.
