Actually I think they need to have a system that chooses, champ, role, building against AP/AD/Hybrid and laning against what champ. You set up your champs just like you do for items sets but set up rune pages, masteries, spells, as well as items, do a set for each role and build against/lane against, etc.. When you get into champ select you only need to pick the options above and everything is auto selected for you.

I think that Riot could and should make you have a set amount of rune pages such as 20 like the mastery system, but still have runes cost money but the pages are free. That way there is a way for new players and players who don't have the time to grind up the IP a chance at some diversity in their rune pages. Right now I only have 2 because I don't have the time to get 6300 IP for 1 page. If they cannot be free then at least cut the price in half. PLEASE RITO

you don't need rune pages till like lvl 30 and by then if ur smart you should have enough ip to get 1, rune pages don't matter that much unless ur playing ranked where even the littlest bit of damage matters

I've been playing since 2012. Still only have the 2. Runes only make a difference when you're getting up there in rank anyways. If you're a casual player, don't even bother. Buy a basic AP and AD setup and run with it.

TLDR; Who really needs more than 2?

I have 17 rune pages now. Started of with 2 for one season and then just kept buying more as I played ranked and draft where I needed champ specific and matchup specific runes. So my runes go like this for one champ. I have a vs AD, vs AP and vs Mixed (Mixed meaning: I don't know who my laner is so I take this as a safe pick because it has both mr and armor), but otherwise if I know my laner and I know hes AD I would take the vs AD where I dont need mr and can put in something else in that mr slot like for instance, more ad, atk speed, cdr, mana regen, etc. Vice versa for ap.

Sorry but as an older player, I grinded all the champs and now I have 20 rune pages (given I have bought RP, but for skins mainly, I think I've only bought darius and talon with RP back in the day when I was dumb. I think that rune page diversity is something you earn I guess and something to differentiate the kayle mains from the kayle casuals, as an example. If you wanted attack speed, hybrid pen, armor, and AP (just an example). I think that if beginners can so easily get everything that top players have for free, it gives them less incentive to keep trying harder to play well and slowly grind IP.

Just my thoughts :)

I also think it would be unfair to give everyone 20 rune pages especially after so many people have slowly grinded for the IP to buy them.

My account is so old that it started with 3 rune pages, but I still agree with GranDuelist123. You should have 3 from the start so that you can have an AP page, an AD page and a third for either defense or support or both.

They reduced the default rune page number in early 2011, I think. I opened my account in fall of 2010 but a friend who started his right when Caitlyn came out only had 2 right off the bat.

okay yes but i said they should give us 3 to start not all the pages. i have 7 but i still wish riot would have given everyone 3 to start with. 1 magic 1 damage 1 tank. I didnt ask or say they should give us 10 or something. obviously you should earn them because besides you wouldnt have enough runes to make 20 unique pages for champs when you start playing the game. it would be easier though with 3 VERY standard pages. Eventually you can make your own pages for your own champs. i also guess i didnt clarify what i meant when i said they should give everyone 3 pages. i didnt mean 3 more i meant start with 3 pages not 2 pages.

You're right. New players should be at a disadvantage in every thinkable way because it's more fun to the people that have been playing for years. No runes, no masteries, no experience, no skill, no pages. Then let's report them for unskilled and be toxic to them for not being as good. Deal?

I feel that they should start you with two and then give you one when you hit level 10 and another at level 20. This way it would allow you to have four at level 30 and it still makes you buy the other 16, but you are able to have some diversity. That way you get an AP,AD, Tank and Supp page set up. You still have to buy the runes so it is not completely free.

Can someone tell me if there is a way to calculate the cost of a bundle if you want to buy a champ with ip first? for example i'm curious on the cost of the mobility creep bundle but i own cosmic kass and kass, no one else. what i want to know is how can i calculate the cost of RP for the bundle if i were to buy say zed with ip. how much would the bundles RP cost be reduced to? this is because i dont want to commit to buying the champ just to see how much the price drops because i need to save ip. thanks!
