Furthermore, there's only a few game modes that Riot have repaired so they are functional. To maintain gamemodes like urf and doombots, they would have to constantly change it due to new patches. On the other hand, I agree that the rotating game modes are somewhat boring after a few rotations with little variation in game modes, but there's still Summoners Rift, Twisted Treeline, and ARAM. It's better than only having these gamemodes once a year,e.g LotPK, URF, All for One.

I have to imagine that he's talking about the Free RP at level five being replaced by two Premium Hextech Chests because free RP was abusable (esports icons purchasing and Hextech content purchasing) while the Premium Hextech Chests are not. Source
Riot didn't say that people didn't want free RP in any posts that I can remember, nor did they say that Extra Bonus RP is going away. I think there's a chance for it later in the year. It looks like I'm mistaken, see Levyathyn's post.

I'll have to comb back through all my replies and comments to see if I can find it. Unfortunately, Riot stopped responding to threads asking about an RP sale happening this year, generally across all regions. That means everything I can find in a Google search or looking through the past four months of board posts are empty, unanswered threads with no link to the announcements in question. I'll find it, though.

Thank you for trying! Much appreciated! I held off on purchasing RP this Christmas because I was sure that an Extra Bonus RP sale would happen in January, February, or March. If there will not be a sale, then I guess I won't buy RP. :(

Kshaway2 votesVhan8765, I am pretty sure that the reason is that people were getting upset that they didn't know what was going to be on sale, until the day of. Making them spend lets say 880 RP on Orianna instead of 440. This then made the players mad. These mad players would demand that Riot give them a refund. Riot, would then honor this. Riot probably got annoyed at all the requests, so they decided to put the sale early. So now, those people have no excuses for buying a champion before it is on sale.
