Challenger rewards update

Last year at the end of the season we announced brand new physical rewards for Challenger players and teams in the 2016 ranked season - in that time we’ve been hard at work designing and crafting the thousands of jackets and medallions that Challengers earned in that time.

After a couple of delays, we’re now shipping jackets in most regions! Challenger Elite medallions will soon follow, so don’t panic if you qualified for a medallion and didn’t receive it in your first shipment. We’re working to ship all items in the coming weeks.

We’ve had a lot of time to think about rewards while waiting for the jackets to ship out. When we reached out to some of the highest-level players regarding end-of-season rewards, a young up-and-coming North American player called Meteos had an idea: Riot should add something in-game like unique Recall effects for Challengers.

Well, alright.

The Challenger Recall appears anytime the normal blue Recall would play, but does not override Baron-buffed Recalls, nor the blue effect on the minimap, to preserve gameplay readability. This will be going live in a future patch, but we wanted to give you a quick preview:

You can get this effect by being Challenger Tier in the current season (this will update daily).

We hope Challengers and Challenjours alike enjoy this feature - and we’ll have an update on the physical rewards program later this year. In the meantime, let us know what you think!

My brother and I both play League and used to live in the same house. They really can't use that as an "Oh man this is the same guy because its the same address!". There are plenty of people in college dorms, gaming houses, or couples who play and live together that could absolutely both be challenger.

From how they wrote it, looks like the recall will be only currently ranked challenger people. Says updates daily so if at the time of update you have dropped out you lose it. I think.

LOL i thought you were just using a generalization but that dude is actually B2 lol. But i humbly agree. League has something near 67 million active monthly players (2014) The fact that a select handful of players can win and keep that ranking against decay/pros/and the masters attempting to push their way in is nothing short of a massive achievement. This dude is upset because he falls into the 99.99% of players of this game and isn't showcased as a special snowflake....

Aside from cool bragging rights, those who actually work to get challenger deserve to be rewarded for their continuous efforts to keep the compet_i_tive scene and the game itself thriving. I'm not going to elo shame you because it's wrong, and my rank isn't jackshit, but the best of the best deserve something as simple as a tangible reward.

WHICH IS APPARENTLY MORE DIFFICULT THAN EXPECTED. I honestly have had people banned from league just because they cant follow the simplest of rules. Sexual content /racist content in names....by god man, my 4 year old cousin plays league, its the least you could do!

I've only made it to Bronze 3, and will continue to try this season, but I'm not playing ranked next season. I'd probably be gold if not for the huge amount of trolls and feeders. I'm honestly not sure it's possible for me to get to silver. I'll be on a 10 win streak, then suddenly lose every game to feeding morons. Like why was it so easy the first 10 games, was it just to troll me Riot? So honestly, I don't think I, or majority of Ranked players in Bronze, care about a fucking recall recolor. What we care about is a stable system for Ranked. So please, stop focusing your attention on "rewarding" players in higher ranks and try fixing what is broken in lower ranks. Thanks, bye.

Have you considered maybe you're not as good as you think you are? Ranked is pretty stable imo. I once tried to get an account to bronze and I struggled to lose games while also not looking like I was obviously trying to lose. I would literally do nothing and still win games just because I didn't go off myself, I even tried to put my team in bad situations but the enemy team wouldn't take advantage. People in bronze and silver just have zero game sense and decision making. I'm not a good player by any account.

This is completely true! The problem in lower elo's is players instantly tilt as soon as they see their top laner is 0/3. "GG FF@20" Now, in diamond, this may be a problem because players understand how to use their lead to carry and end a game quickly. Lower elo players do not! Just dont tilt, and wait out the game. Chances are, the game is going to reach that 45 minutes where the top laners massive lead is now completely irrelevant. Play some late game scaling champions, and you will win most of your games.

I always try to be the voice of reason when I foresee a teammate about to get tilted and/or be positive to maintain the team's morale but I can only type so much when trying to coax a person so short-sighted and stubborn. I always tell them that i've came back and won in a much worst situation (2 inhibs down). I wish I can post your words of wisdom onto a bulletin board for my ELO aka Bronze aka the final circle of Hell.

If you truly want to climb in the rankings, you need to change your attitude ASAP! You can't expect to climb with the attitude that your team sucks and you deserve to be higher. There is a reason why several people can do "unranked to challenger" streams. Its because they have the skill's to carry a game. I feel this goes overlooked by many players. You can be very good at the game, but still not have the specific skill set to actually carry. Work on your champion pool, find champions who snowball early and can make pressure around the map.

But when I go from bronze V to Silver 3 in solo queue it means nothing. That's cool, people who try and get held back mainly by trolls get to sit there tapping their foot. Sigh I think I have quit league this game isn't balanced or fair for anyone anymore. It is just "who plays the more broken champion"

Yes, there are lots of trolls and feeders at low elo. However, let me give you this:

When you enter into a game, you can rule out the possibility of being a troll/feeder yourself, right? That's pretty good news for your team! That means there are only 4 potential feeders/trolls on your team, since you can rule yourself out. However, for the enemy team, there are FIVE potential feeders/trolls, since you can't rule any of them out. ODDS ARE IN YOUR FAVOR! On the macro scale the enemy teams you play against will have more trolls/feeders than your team does. Which means unless you have a lot to improve on, low elo is especially easy to move up in due to the easy games where the enemy has trolls/feeders. Looks like you have a lot to improve on. (Same for me)

Of course, there's the possibility that he actually is a troll/feeder/(tilted toxic feeder). However, if he's none of those and actually better than most players at that elo, then climbing out should be really easy.
