The final game mode of the 2014 All-Star Challenge is going to be a white-knuckled 1v1 showdown worth three times the points for the winning team. That's some serious responsibility. That's why we asked you to vote for who you think is best suited to rise to the challenge. Here's who you chose:

This is probably the reason why the "pick 10" champions were so awful. I realized most of the western regions voted for rare/underused champions, but even if NA, LAN, LAS, BR and EUW together vote for Poppy and Yorick, when the millions of Chinese players vote for their favourite champions (Thresh and Lucian), the other regions' votes are negligible.

They should've done something similar to what they do in the American indirect voting system for presidential elections: the top 10 or top 20 votes from each region get some points. In the end, you add up all the points from all the regions and you choose the winners (instead of using an absolute majority).

Otherwise, by sheer numbers, whatever China chooses will win.

The issue was that they voted by plurality. While each 'exotic' champion might have gotten more approval than each 'normal' champion, the people who wanted 'normal' champions voted for a smaller pool than the 'exotic' ones. In the American indirect voting, this is equivalent to not having a party system--the platform with fewer candidates tends to win because they split the vote less. Instead, we should do it by approval voting: each person votes 'yes' or 'no' (or no vote, I suppose) on each champion. Thus, 'normal' champions would get downvoted more if the community actively didn't want to see them. Similar to this, but with the ability to +1/-1/no vote so people don't have to vote yes or no on each of over a hundred champions. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Approval_voting

I am not convinced.. if that is the case, then why did Froggen get picked over Cool? Maybe the crowd were not convinced by Bjerson's skill in a non-URF mode... Froggen's Anivia totally owned that game (with help from Cool & Madlife)

Hmmmm, I just thought of a new game mode for riot, based entirely on a players skill. No runes. No masteries. No Items, just the player and his abilities, It would be more fun for new players that are not level 30, and can improve a players skill.

It's a cool idea but I can't see it working. Items are too much of an intrinsic part of the game. There is no point in last hitting if you don't need money for items. Tanks would not get tanky, mages would be constantly out of mana, and carries would do no damage. Champions would have to constantly recall to heal as they would not have potions, lifesteal, or spellvamp. The only good champions would be strong, sustaining, early game champs like LeeSin and Renekton , or champions that scale powerfully with levels like Tristana . It would be way too unbalanced to work.
