Hey everyone! Ed “SapMagic” Altorfer here to give you an update on Honor rewards for 2019. If you’re an honorable player and you’ve been around a couple years, you probably already earned both of the exclusive Honor 5 rewards: Medieval Twitch and Grey Warwick. We don’t want to leave you hanging, so this season we’re adding chromas for these skins to the reward lineup as a way of recognizing the most sportsmanlike players.

Going forward, if you already own both Medieval Twitch and Grey Warwick when you hit Honor 5, you’ll get a chroma for both skins and a random emote or ward skin. On the other hand, if you haven’t earned both skins yet, you’ll unlock one of them just like before.

With the season reset, it’ll be a few months before players climb back to Honor 5, so we’ll be back later in the season with a proper debut for the new chromas. Hmm... is there something wrong if I have been honor 5 every season since it released and I don't have both of these skins? I got grey WW this year, but don't have Medieval Twtich.

Medieval Twitch & Grey Warwick were originally rewards for recruit a friend system that they removed. That is how some people have them without being honor 5.

Yes I know, I'm one of those people. My point is that the skins aren't exactly exclusive to honours and its a "feels bad" point.

Same here I only have grey WW this year and I have been honor level 5 since July or August.

No, there's nothing 'wrong' in the sense that you missed out on an opportunity or anything like that.

When Medieval Twitch and Grey WW were initially integrated into the Honor system, the skins were simply random drops from the capsules as long as you were level 3 honor or higher. Thus, I'm sure there are plenty of players who have consistently reached honor 5 but will miss out on earning the chroma this season (myself included).

I think there's something wrong in the sense that it isn't really fair in my opinion.

Edit: Actually reviewed the original news post, the skins had a chance to drop from honor capsules as long as you were level 3 or higher.

I believe there was a chance to get no skin, one skin, or both in Season 7. While this season you were guaranteed one. So that's probably why.

I mean don't get me wrong yay for new chormas, but as a player who had hit honor 5 every time since its release AND who never plays either of those champs... this isn't much incentive. If you want to really motivate people to hit and maintain honor 5 you should make exclusive skins that can only be obtained by holding honor 5 through the end of the season. Make a line of Honorguard skins for say 2-3 champs a year and people would be much more incentivized to maintain honor 5 rather then remaking the same honor wards each year or a chorma for skins that only apply to 2 roles. Honorable supports dont really play ww or twitch :P

2-3 added per year when (most people) can only unlock 1 per year would lead to a LOT of complaining.

I would be OK with it, if they let you pick which skin you got each year though.

That was my thoughts as well. I should have specified. Make it like a gemstone crafting or mission crafting, where at the end of the season you get an item that allows you to choose which of the 2-3 skins you want in return for the honorguard capsule currency you obtained for ending the season at H5. It's league, you could give away every skin for free and someone would complain they didnt also get free runepages, so I'm not saying it'd fix the lackluster honor rewards in it's entirety, but you can't argue that people wouldnt be more driven to be honor 5 knowing there are exclusive skins for doing so. Premise being, as of right now you can obtain 2 skins for being honorable. Adding exclusives for honor 5 would be a greater incentive than just recoloring the two they have since it would give a larger population a chance at a cool skin for a champ they actually play.

As much as I love my Rat boy I have to agree for a reward for maintaining honor 5 the chromas for these champs don't really feel fair to people who don't play adc or jg, I do like these skins in their base form but if I'm being completely honest I chromas seem a bit stingy for maintaining honor 5. It might of been new skins if we paid a few hundred-thousand riot points instead (though to be fair there are a lot of champions that could use some new skins poor Kindred...)

I've had honor 5 since it came out, and I only have Medieval twitch, it seems more like you're giving it to the lucky people the few that got both skins please fix this mistake seem very unfair.

I got 2 accounts, this account gets H5 for 2 seasons and only received Grey WW in S8, nothing received in S7 for H5. The other account gets H3 in S7 and H5 in S8, received both skins in 2017 according to the date shown by the system. Excuse me? Can someone help explain this???

These skins weren't always honour exclusive, some people have never been H-5 and own one or both because they've been playing long enough to have obtained them another way before they became exclusive to H-5 or even before honour levels were a thing.

Yes, this year you will receive the skin you don't own as opposed to chromas for both.

So because of RNG, I don't have Medieval Twitch from being H5 in S7. Now I will be getting shafted for only getting Medieval Twitch this season, no Extra chroma, no ward skin, no emote?

Hope you won't make me feel as bad as I imagine.

Medieval Twitch and Grey Warwick were not guaranteed rewards when they were initially introduced. They were random drops from capsules you earned after reaching level 5 (I think? Possible that they were random drops from any capsules).

In S7, You had a Rare chance to get the Grey WW or Medieval when you get an Honor capsule, and you only get an Honor capsule when your honor goes up a level (getting to H3, H4 or H5. None of the checkpoints business we currently have).

Meaning you had 3 rare chances to get either of those skins.

In S8, they made it a guarantee that you'd get either Grey WW or Medieval Twitch.

So if RNG wasn't on your side, you would have one of the two skins. Which is how RNG screwed me (and a bunch of others) over, cos now we only own one of the two skins, meaning our S9 H5 rewards will just be the other skin, and not the 2 chromas + ward / emote.

RNG, otherwise known as Random Number Generator, is often used to describe a situation that is dictated by chance or luck.

The original comment you responded to basically stated that, due to RNG, they will not be getting the chromas for reaching honor 5 this season. I believe that they will still receive their ward skin and emote, but I think the primary concern they have is that they aren't receiving up-to-date honor rewards.

The reason they don't have all exclusive rewards associated with honor? Simply because during season 7, their capsules did not contain either of the honor-exclusive skins. Other than reaching honor 3, whether or not you received Grey Warwick or Medieval Twitch was completely based off of the luck of the draw.

Thx but I do not think one can assume RNG as the abbreviation of Random Number Generator in the context of league of legends with a great team known as RNG as well. It leads to confusion.

RNG meant Random Number Generator (or God) long before League was a twinkle in Riot's eye, that's why the team chose that name. So unless one is specifically talking about the team "RNG" it's likely referring to Random Number God as that's the original and more general use. G'damn you make me feel old.

Still waiting for some compensation for getting the skins before the Honor program included them... =/ Feels bad that I did a ton of referrals for these skins and didn't even get a loading screen bonus. Plus, a few other LE skins are missing their loading screen bonuses too... /sigh

I like the continued support of the Honor System. I will definitely appreciate the chromas. I am not always a perfect gentleman in game but I do try not to flame or rage when games go south. Getting rewarded for self control and good behavior it a good idea. Thanks.

With that said I would appreciate it if Riot would also support the Clubs with more robust features.

Would you ever think of adding more Honor exclusive skins? I find they are incredible even if they are simple, and wouldn't even mind if you decided to bring back some old skins for it like discarded toys Amumu and Blitzcrank

Hey Sapmagic,

Was any thought put into those individuals who received both of those skins, through the refer-a-friend program? I've gotta admit. It felt a bit lack luster only receiving a couple key frags and 250 BE, while seeing others receive these exclusive legacy skins while receiving Honor 5 Orbs. I also feel off that the "exclusivity" of receiving the skin by referring friends from a long time ago is gone. Maybe a good comparison would be when the Champ Riven skin was re-released?

We'll get the Golden Chromas as a part of the "end-of-season" rewards this year.

Why not just bring back another Legacy skin each year like Riot Blitzcrank or Traditional Trundle?

It would have more impact than a chroma.

I think you mean limited mate. Like Rusty Blitz, King Rammus, or Black Alistar; and just like Medieval Twitch and Grey WW used to be. Limited skins can't be bought and were generally exclusive rewards for programs in the early days of LoL.

I owned every single skin. What did I get in return? Not much. Got my RP back (whoopie... just give me a cash refund instead) and a special "loading border" on the skin (which is basically invisible). Riot said they would come out with something else for us but never did. They just lied basically.

Two tokens doesn't seem enough. You can get the new skins or the new chromas? What if you have none? You miss out on the chromas....or get the chromas, and, cannot use them.
