Champion Update: Ashe update heading to live!

Having successfully passed through the PBE’s security scanners, Ashe’s update is all set to head onto live alongside patch 5.9. Read through her PBE article for the full story, or just scroll down for extra launch info!

I'm going to miss the old Ashe. I don't think she needed such a drastic overhaul to crits. I like the new Q and E, but I also liked the old Q and E. I don't want the new passive she's getting. I understand that she has a sure-shot identity to her, but overhauling the crit system for her seems drastic to me.

I'm worried that Morg will hard counter Ashe, along with Yi and Olaf. It doesn't make sense to me that Ashe would lose the ability to crit because of their immunity to slow. To give her kit weaknesses? Maybe, but thematically it doesn't agree with me.

I understand that Ashe hasn't seen a lot of competitive play, but I don't care about that scene. I've enjoyed Ashe as an adc for years and it saddens me that she's getting an overhaul so that she can fit into the professional meta which only houses a small population of players. To me, LCS shouldn't define League of Legends and I'm worried that it is the primary driving force behind this change.

I'm scared they have over-buffed her, and will have to nerf her hard patch 9.0, making her just as nonviable of a champ as she is to most people right now, only a different champ entirely. Wish they had consulted with the most experienced Ashe players to come up with the change; I have 4.6K games as Ashe, which I can say with absolute certainty that the designers for her do not. Not a fan of what has been done to my favorite champion.

I am literally the only one who is not looking forward to this update? Looks like it. GenghisEmo, Ashe is already waaaay stronger than Vayne; I just won a 3v5 as Ashe vs a Vayne. The only reason many players do not see Ashe as viable is because they have not played her enough; it is hard to be good enough with her to not die, which most players find to difficult, so they never try beyond a handful of games. It looks like they are just making her into a new Jinx, which will REQUIRE nerfing. Ashe strength right now comes from her slow and Critical strike ability, and they are removing her crit, taking away what makes Ashe Ashe. Yes, bonus damage will be applied, but not to the critical strike extent. Critical strike damage is 200% starting damage, meaning if you start with 75 AD you can hit for 150, obviously, but Bonus damage is not equal to base damage, so they are already nerfing her by A LOT of damage, most especially in early game, where her first Critical strike is enough to keep her evenly matched in lane vs other adcs. She is weak in lane because of no armor or magic resist. Taking away the crit strike and adding +10 bonus damage based on crit strike % removes her early game extremely effectively. She will no longer be able to go even in lane, or trade blows with an enemy adc. Then they decide to add a machine gun edge? But of course this should help keep her in lane! Maybe. All it seems to do in reality is make her Super strong late game, as she used to be when all basic attacks had the % chance to crit strike as Ashe's stacks. So if you had 87 stacks, you had an 87% crit strike chance every arrow that you threw. That tiny, insignificant piece to Ashe made her super strong, and she was nerfed in patch 3.8. The buff they are giving her is just too strong based on her previous game play, and they will need to nerf her again in the patch immediately following her new release. This will change Ashe fundamentally, basically making her a new adc. I truly believe a mistake is being made, and the repercussions will not be what everyone expects.

They already did nerf Jinx, her rockets to people's faces are reduced like 200 damage. It hurts when you're in a skirmish, and the enemy support won't let you leave.

I completely agree with the Jinx nerf though. She's not an in-your-face kind of ADC like Graves or Lucian. With a Range-Steroid, the immense range on Zap, and a snare with her Chompers, giving her a Super Mega Death Shotgun wasn't really in line with either her character design or her balance.

Her R remains nearly unchanged, her E is now global (the only change to it), her W is practically the same thing, so her only real differences are that she actually has a Q ability now, and her crit passive is removed. You make it sound like she will be ruined, when she's just being made more viable. Sion had more change in his rework than Ashe. Llook at him now. He went from an awkward champion to a viable and highly contested pick. I think this change is exactly what Ashe needed, and I will be excited to play her.

That update practically removed Sion from the game and replaced him with somebody new. Although I do like the new Sion, my heart will always ache for the old one. I miss you, Son.

I have to disagree with you a bit there. The E being global is nice, but in my opinion wasn't worth the passive gold loss. Also the Q was always there, conserving mana and using it when needed as a skill rather than just toggling it on or off was a large part of playing Ashe (especially early game). Losing the ability to crit normally is a huge loss in my opinion. The only way to deal good damage (on par with other adcs) now is to build crit chance. Sure you can get back up to 200% crit but it's only going to happen late game. If she gets there, she's OP; till then she's a weak early lane and won't be as viable a pick as she was before (which was sparse to begin with).

As for Sion, he had his place in old games and could be a viable pick (just like any champion).. however people played him oddly though it worked out when they did (AP Sion). They could have tweaked him a little and got a more viable character without creating an entirely new champion. They even changed his lore for crying out loud. Now it reads more like the Aatrox lore (which in my opinion sounds like a 10 year old wrote it).

The number represents the season. Patch 5.9 means season 5 patch 9

You have 4.6k games with Ashe, but you are Silver V? Do you really think you are a leading authority on ANY champion design or mechanics? Or overall game knowledge? You build Essence Reaver on Ashe. Just because you play a champion a lot doesn't mean you are knowledgeable.

OH. ALSO. WHY U GOTTA HATE ON item 3508 ??? EH??? its great for mana-hungry casters who are eating away at their reserves. Ezreal (sometimes that tear and sheen arent enough) Sivir Urgot Jinx (if you use your rockets a lot) Talon Just like EVERY OTHER ITEM IN THE GAME it's situational. just because it isnt a meta-core item doesnt mean it's bad. You almost never see item 3060 but its a really useful item (that promote messes up the fed mages)

It's probably the dumbest skin in the game IMO, even worse than Battle Bunny Riven. It's like making a skin called Zaun Blitzcrank, or Void Cho'Gath. Why does she have a skin that's based on her being from the Freljord if she's already from it?

The lore (not sure if they changed it or not) stated that Ashe once saw her whole group die while she was wearing white. White was the traditional dress for the Avarosan tribe.
