Upcoming Refer-a-Friend downtime

We recently shared our plans to update the Refer-a-Friend program to better serve players bringing allies into League of Legends. We’ll be taking the current RAF program down for the transition. The downtime may last a few days, during which time we’ll transfer players to the new program, including handing out any new rewards earned as a result of previous referrals.

We’re excited to launch the update to the Refer-a-Friend program—thanks for your patience as we implement all of the changes!

Referred two friends... I'm willing to wait if I'm going to get IPs tehehehehe... but when I clicked the "redeem" on the R-A-F page, I didn't get any IPs on my account when one of my friend reached level 11. It says redeemed but I still have about 76 IP xD And now my LOL won't open :(

Some of my friends who have been playing League regularly, couple even since Season 1, have seen the game evolve and enjoyed it. One of their friends started using referral bots just before the RAF update and they got swooped in for the cheap RP. Some days after they were caught and their illegal skins removed, nothing more than that. It was sad seeing them getting mad at Riot for ruining their illegal activity, from which they were fully conscious would have consequences, and ragequit. They were some of my best teammates and they had no major qualms before that, yet they had it coming. Riot is just doing what is fair.
