Why can't Graves have a cigar?

These questions are for the software engineer interns. I don’t think we’re supposed to post them here, but what the hell. More visibility, more likely you folks will ask in a few days,

  1. Could I get an introduction from you for some context? Name, year in school and major, office location, etc.
  2. What software development methodologies does Riot adhere to (Agile, waterfall, etc)? Were you working on a team or were you largely quarantined from this process?
  3. Did any of your code get pushed to a live environment or were your projects handled separately from the main source code? Either way, would you care to elaborate on any of them?
  4. Is there anything Riot could improve upon with their internship program? Is there anything you wish you’d been able to do more of? More importantly, is Riot asking you these same questions as your summer internship draws to a close?
  5. Could you walk me through a typical work day for you? How much time is spent in meetings, coding, free time, etc.
  6. Some workplace logistics, brutal honesty appreciated if that is allowed/safe for you to do so. Of all these questions I think these few are the most important:

-What is the office environment like, such as dress code, attitude towards time off, and respect of work-life balance? -What were you being paid as an intern, and how much do the entry-level full-time employees make? -What are they making after a year of employment? -How much of an influence do corporate decisions have at the office scale (is it laid back or is it a more professional setting)? -How is the gender ratio at your location specifically? -Could you realistically go up to your boss (or your boss’s boss’s boss!) to have any concerns addressed, or is there a hierarchy of communication flow?

Thank you very much for your time.

Did you make significant impacts? (Ex: Maybe pitching an idea for a new item, coming up with the lore, event) What did you learn about Riot that you might have never known before? How would this experience change the way you see or play Lol? Do you have any regrets leaving this program? (Maybe didn't do this, or ask this?) What's the most interesting thing you learned? Let's end my curiosity, shall we? summoner 30

What has been the best thing you learned as being an intern at Riot Games? What is your most honorable moment? Why is Nami a fish that can fly?

I want to be an intern!!! Do you have a pharmacy in your HQ that I can intern at?

Gutsy saGe8/8/2015, 12:39:18 AM4 votes

Hey!! This is a fantastic idea. I am currently finishing up my last semester of school and I am receiving a degree in advertising and did some social media producing.

I absolutely love the game and culture it has created around it. How did you all get involved? I would love to try and become an intern or part of the Riot team, how does one get involved??

Cheers! item 3174

Hey there Interns, what does one need to do to become part of your team? I love LoL and hearing about the design processes that are involved makes it sound great for the innovative Viktor .

I have a question for the art interns. I'm currently enrolled in school for game art (bachelors in science) and I was wondering to put it plainly do you have any pointers/tips that you can share to help us better understand what we should strive for to land an internship with Riot?

I'm mostly looking to land in the modeling or rigging department seeing my traditional art skills are in no way near up to par to be called 'professional'.

Also for the 3D side which programs do they prefer to use when creating their models? I recall reading Zbrush but I'm not sure if the source is creditable.

Thanks!

frozenhellfire138/9/2015, 8:32:07 PM1 votes

how about making the game fair? so that a hand full of champs such as Katarina Vayne Fizz Udyr don't need like 2 to 3 kills and then just make the game not fun because you cant do anything because you get popped so fast? that would be nice I like to play the game for once
