leopard nidálee2 votesIf he was played as a support, I think he'd be a bit like Bard... His passive(? correct me if I'm wrong) is for farming the jungle, and thus far we don't know if it'll have any use in lane. But like how Bard occasionally leaves to collect chimes, perhaps Ivern could go and steal a camp from the enemy jungle and then return to lane, which I guess would still be "supporting" in that it helps put the jungler behind. Guess we'll just have to see.

leopard nidálee5 votesI think there are ways he could be played in other roles, but yeah, I really don't think I like the idea of a passive so jungle-oriented. It's kinda like how they refused to let Kled jungle, or modified Kindred's W so that it only really provides benefits for jungling. Or even how Yorick's goal is to splitpush, splitpush, splitpush. I get that Riot is trying to veer away from these "jack of all trades" champions, but I don't think making champions be stuck in one playstyle only is any better.
MrStealYoGanks1 votesI don't see how they refused Kled jungle, Riot makes champions more inclined to certain roles but that doesn't make them invalid for another role. Ultimately I believe that's up to player skill. I do agree that Riot has moved away from making jack of all trades but every champion they've made can be used in at least 2 roles. How good you are at using the champion outside of the role it was originally created for comes down to your skill with that champion.
I can see Ivern working in top lane or even support as well, depends on the team comp though.
Farqad41 votesI just know from every moba ive played that some champions with specific roles make the game more balanced. I know its boring but imagine if Antimage from yes ill say it "dota" if he was good at other roles. If he wasn't just a cs dependent hero for 4/5ths of the game farming away from all the fights till 35-40 hed be op. He scales so well he has low base damage till WAAY late to be even fair. If he jungles you win if another role...good luck. Sure LOL has some heroes with 1 strategy for the same purpose. SMITE GOME and newerth too.

InsanitysTheName2 votesHe can not attack or be attacked by jungle monsters except dragon and baron. Instead, he places a "grove" on them which after a short while he can click on to instantly gain the monster's XP and gold.
Farqad41 votesI didn't watch but if he hides in the grove imagine all the escape potential. As you run away with 5 hp run to wolves and hide in the grove to buy time for mid to save you. Or to dodge ultimates

ŽeroGravity1 votesIvern's best counter is anyone using any jungler that would ward hard and willing to camp him in his own jungle early game. Iverns passive drops his health and when Ivern's dies the passive timer goes away as well. There for Ivern would be easy to take down for those that enjoy camping. One could wait in the area then wait till his casted his passive 1-3 times then kill him and take his buffs. "No Ivern/dead means his timer goes away = gg." As long as Ivern is killing him self you as counter jungler gain the upper hand early game in Ivern's jungle. So in truth you just gave 400 gold to the counter junglers. Which is very Vital considering if the counter jungler stays on Ivern and kills him 2-4 times early. Which means you also unlock the counter junglers ability to now smash all other enemy players. At least give the pour guy A built in ability to locate wards with A cool down of 60-120secs so he can locate another ward to destroy Or you can give him the auto ability to seek and destroy wards located in the brush. His brush helps him hide some. So slow his run speed down A tad and let him locate wards freely and make sure to add A cool down timer on it or let him "only seek and destroy wards in the jungle or brush and then he will be more helpful.
