9.11: Lore Update

Hey everyone!

This week’s Lore Update is shorter, but no less sweet—we’re travelling to the Immortal Bastion for an update on Noxus!

We’ve got a new color story focused on LeBlanc and the Black Rose, and bio updates for a few of our Noxian favorites: Cassiopeia, Mordekaiser, and Sion.

Is Shadows of Damnation going to stick around or is Mordekaiser getting a new color story in a couple weeks as well? Love the bio btw.

Does Morde have anything to do with the Shadow Isles anymore? Or is he like Pyke now, a spectre unafiliated with the Black Mist?

I hope we get some new Lucian and Kindred lore now that Morde got an update!

Quite like the new Mord lore, but wasn't a big fan of the whole "yet this was all planned" type thing, felt to pretentious in a way, rather than it was like fate for his return again by the ruined king, but maybe that is just me. As for Cass and Sion I found them amazing works, with a couple of questions still left to ask, like Cass's family allegiances and relationship, Talon, does Sion listen to only Swain or also the Black Rose, but find that in their own rights tell what they need to tell. As for the LB short story, it has left me a bit confused about LB's allegiances and relations with Mord, like is she still the one that ended up killing him and betraying him leading to the hiding his body in the Blessed Isles, or is she simply using his figure, like I get with LB her allegiances will always change but... personally pref to know the character, and not be lied by them

Yo rioter Writers you kno how Kindred is supposed to be a pretty big influence on cultures across runeterra? Well because they are supposed to be a root in culture BUT were created much later after much of the Lore was created they are in a wierd spot where they actually AREN'T a root for culture. Anytime that a relatively NEW champion is supposed to a core part of the world's lore, and OLDER champions get the lore updated, u guys should be looking for a chance to insert hints of that NEW impactful champions mythos in.

This update for Sion was a perfect chance to insert the "Pride of a death at Wolf's jaw" or something like that since Noxus prefers Wolf to Lamb, and also because Sion's history is old and also important to Noxus. You guys did it for the Story "Principles of Strength" where there's a monument to wolf, so why not here. I would say the same thing for Morde but I think that he thinks he's above death so he probably doesn't care about Kindred. HOWEVER its a VERY nice touch that he has a Kindred tattoo on his back in his Pentakill skin which matches the theme for a heavy metal band since Kindred is Runterra's equivalent of the reaper. I think its important to showing the rich culture and lore of LoL and the connections between everything. Pls don't miss anymore chances like that, I'm sure there are other champions who have a similar status to Kindred as well.
