Express your style and personality in League of Legends with chroma packs that reimagine original color schemes, allowing you to make your favorite champions and skins your own. Where skins offer alternate fantasies from a champion’s base thematic, chroma packs serve up new ways to personalize a specific champion or skin.

Designed with clarity in mind, each chroma pack is built around a themed palette of complementary colors and includes three chromas that modify either a champion’s base or one of their skins. As new optional cosmetic items that don’t impact balance or affect your ability to play the game, each of these initial packs will be available for 590 RP.

You can only unlock chroma packs for champions and skins you own. Head to the bundles tab of the store to unlock the chroma pack that suits you. Once you’ve picked up a chroma pack or two, your chromas will appear during champion select under the skins tab linked to the base champion or skin (at launch, chroma packs will not be available in Team Builder).

I love the idea, I hate how it came out. It should of been linked to Champion Mastery and it should of been linked to people who actually play that champion. It gives people incentives to main a champion and get good at playing that one champion instead they can just buy it like a normal skin. Honestly this could of had so much more potential

I understand that you desire "champion unlocks" for people who play specific champions, but that really isn't what League of Legends is about. I mean it took Riot 5 years to decide if "Champion Mastery" was something they even want to include, and that's still in PBE.

Since this is a skin-oriented purchase, IMO it makes sense that it would function just like all the other skins. Also, I think this is a useful tool for people (like me) who enjoy some of the champion skins but wish they were a different color.

It doesn't really suit Riot's MO to make you have to pay for something, AND have to "earn" it by unlocking it in-game. League of Legends isn't an MMO. This is essentially a skin mod, so making it RP-only (in line with all other skins) makes the most sense.

Well lets take for example the upcoming MOBA coming into play, HOTS. Been playing since Alpha, and I love the fact if I play a hero long enough, I get a cool skin variation, and at lvl 10, I get a mastery skin, that I still pay for but it looks awesome and people are aware I main that hero.

If mastery is only normals, and they linked the Chroma packs to Mastery then I would totally quit playing ranked as much and play normals more so when I unlocked the chroma pack, I would go back to ranked and play ranked with my new addition.

I love the idea of the Chroma pack. I absolutely love it. It gives people a way to have their favorite skin and champion feel brand new with the new color change. Its brilliant. But I hate the fact that if I main Fizz for example, I want to feel like a my new Red Fizz means something instead of a bigger wallet.

I would totally be ok if it was linked to mastery of a champion and you had to pay for it. That would be brilliant and give me a lot more incentive to play my favorite champion.

It's a market they both share, it's completely relevant to their business practices. Also @mudkip4me even though you have to pay for the mastery skin you can use in game earned currency (equivalent to IP) instead of HAVING to spend real money so its even better.

The game being free makes it popular which makes them money. If you had to pay to play it they wouldn't make as much money. It has nothing to do with making people happy it has to do with the fact that demand doesn't out weigh the cost of what they would charge to play for a large share of their consumers.

Yes it is. 1 cheap recolor = 390 rp (Riot's lowest price for a skin). 3 of these would be 1170 rp. However, this is only costing you 590 rp which is 580 rp less than 3 of those skins, and 970 less than 3 of the second-lowest tier skin (520/1560). Therefore it is very worth the prices. DrMundo

waste of freaking money, this should not be sold for RP, if Riot is gonna do this at least make it sold for IP instead. IP is so useless after you've hit lvl 30 and got majority of the champions that you like to play. It just sits there accumulating.

IP totally becomes useless, and you're ignoring the fact that plenty of us have been playing that long (and no for a serious LoL player it doesn't take even close to that long). No one needs 20 full rune pages and most people don't like all the champions. Having something to throw IP at is not the same as it being USEFUL if I don't want something it is USELESS to me.

They have been doing recolors since day 1, only back then they cost as much as a normal skin did, because they were normal skins. Now that Riot has a much higher standard of quality, when they chose to revisit this they sold 3 at a time at their lowest price point.

i dont understand why its so expensive. a skin modder could easily do that in 10 seconds. you should be able to buy them with IP as well as RP. i think having it cost 3000 IP for base skin chroma packs would be fair. gives people who cant afford skins a chance to change up the base colors of their fav champions

It's simple economics. Riot has a huge staff working day in and day out on things that they hand out for free. Maybe palette swapping doesn't take a ton of time, but writing new code does, balancing and testing, making new champs, making the music, making cinematics, improving existing content, producing the LCS, etc etc etc. All these things that they do and don't charge you a dime for still cost them money to produce. Obviously they need to get their earnings from areas where they can make a profit.

I don't see you complaining that you don't have to pay for the patches and balance updates and LCS and cinematics or all the other things that Riot hands you for free. If you're going to complain that they're charging more than you think something is worse, then you better complain that you're paying less than what everything you get for free is worth, otherwise you're just a hypocrite.

My recommendation; take an economics course, you clearly don't know how this works.

Your argument is full of logical fallacies, and even if they weren't, your points are still completely off base. I don't know why you've gone to such lengths to explain something that people clearly understand; companies want to make money. No shit. No "economics course" needed, not that you're actually referring to any terms or special situations that are actually taught in such classes. Do you want to feel superior? Are you getting off on this?

You need to realize that as a consumer, it's not our responsibility to empathize with the (s) hardships (/s) of a large company making more money. We as consumers don't have to examine the internal workings of Riot to know that this is just another way to make money, and it's disproportionately priced to what we'd expect it to be.

I don't care how many different versions of sob stories I'll hear about Riot needing to make money and whatever else you'll come up with to defend your loving relationship to their company; they're gimping their potential sales by selling them in the way they are. What's happening here is called giving feedback, and it's an important aspect of maintaining and improving your services/products as a company, and your attempts to reflect it because it's talking in a negative way about Riot is absurdly moronic. You clearly need to take your own advice and learn a bit more about what you're talking about.

A pretty cool idea honestly, but I do believe these packs should either cost a bit less RP or cost IP instead. Mastery would be the most preferable for everyone I think.
