*Gemstones have a chance of dropping as a bonus alongside normal chest content. Gemstones have light "bad luck protection," so you can't go more than 50 boxes without getting a gemstone. Together this results in a 3.6% chance of getting a gemstone. Gemstones can also drop from bonus chests, bringing the overall drop rate up to 4 percent.

Good God this a thousand times over. At the very least they should only drop champion shards you don't have. Cause right now hextech chest just are disappointment rather than a source of excitement. Putting champion shards in them is the worst.

The reason they give you shards of champs you already own is because if you want to try to bother getting mastery on them you can use the shards to unlock each level, this is why I have been keeping 2 shards of every champ I don't have mastery 7 on just to spare myself the blue essence later. Now I don't you know you, or your champ mastery score, but I think its safe to say you don't have m7 on everyone and maybe you aren't interested in doing so, but that's my guess as to why they still give us shards for champs we own :)

The real reason is that they'd have to either drop half as many chests or massively raise orange essence costs to offset it. It's a really negative experience to get champ chards after a certain point, but it's hard to undo the loot tables while keeping their business plan on track.

The mastery tokens are just a post-hoc thing they had to do to make champ shards sort of do something but not really.

Why the fuck would I care about getting them from chests I purchase when I get them every time a get a fucking Champion Capsule from something called LEVELING UP MY ACCOUNT.... -_- It's basically another stupid dump method to take your money and give you a slim chance to get a shit skin that you could buy for like 250-650 RP. Bad enough it takes like 4000 orange essence to even unlock an Ultimate quality skin if you do manage to get one.

I have one on my new account that I made and grinded the quests for the 2 lunar revel orbs during that event... I got Elementalist Lux skin shard out of one of them, which is amazing but... yeah, it will take forever to get the orange essence to actually upgrade it to a permanent. Especially when I get nothing but Champion shards for dirt cheap champs I already own... or I get shit skin shards that aren't even worth anything. OR I get ward skins/emotes which I could care less about... cause we need more toxicity/flexing in this community as is.

Leave Hextech chests for Skins and shit and leave the Champion Capsules for CHAMPIONS. -_-

I thought that as well, but the fact is most skins i got from RNG are on champs i don't play, so i never use them. Meanwhile, the Darius " Your next" emote I use every game

I would love to get some more emotes. I think they are great prizes. But i have gotten too many chests in a row without cosmetic content. Remove champ shards or let me spend it on something besides champs.

Thankfully I ain't the fool and haven't spent more than 60$ on this game in the 5 years I have played it.

Does not mean its any better .. to explain in better detail ... what would it have hurt Riot to remove champion shards from normal loot boxes ? they would still have icons, ward skins , skin shards, & emotes ETC. They simply wouldn't have 130 + champion shards for you to get.

It would not hurt their bottom dollar do to so as you would still obtain skin shards at about the same if not a bit higher of a rate ... but considering the amount of legacy skin shards in the game this is a non issue as your chance of getting something worth a damn is still horrible.

Do I really need to say more ? okay how about this ?

Every 3 boxes your supposedly now guaranteed a skin shard right ? so lets use that as a basis if you open 20 boxes that's about 6 skin shards ... Okay, now how many boxes do you open a year 20 ? 30 ? 40 ? lets go the high end and say 40. so that's 12 skin shards a year. Okay, how many of those skin shards do you think are Legacy/Legendary/Ultimate. Lets be safe and say 6 are legacy or normal skins and the other 6 can be whatever lets say 3 are epic shards and 2 are Legendary shards and 1 is a Legendary / Ultimate shard.

To activate 1 Legendary Skin is like what 1500-1800 OE ?

( I am basing these OE prices on skin shards I have on hand I am not sure of the price range of each shard so let me know if you know of them )

Legacy skins as far as I have seen are worth 100-200 OE ? ( Ragdoll Poppy 195 ) Normal shards as far as I have seen are worth about 200 maybe 300 OE ? ( Gangster Twitch 195 ) Epics from the one I have is 300 ? ( 270 Blood Moon Diana )

if you need 1500 + to unlock a single good skin shard you basically have to sacrafice almost all other shards gathered that entire year to acquire a single skin.

1200 from legacy / normal shards 900 from epic shards Legendary ? I am not sure of the price here. and legendary/ultimate shard.

so you would essentially give up all legacy and then Still need to give up epics to acquire one shard 1500 or more OE. If your LUCKY you might unlock 2 skins in an entire year that are decent.

That is not a very good system at all .... so people complained ... so what do they do ... hey pay us $$$$ for this box that allows you to get more skin shards so you don't have to deal with all this bs !

You seem to be missing it. Companies like Ubisoft EA pratice down right dirty Loot Boxes where they Lock Content That is Actually need to play or progress in the game.i.e Equipment that makes your character stronger, or give you some kind of boost. Skins are cool and very nice thing for your champions but aren't required for you to play the game to its fullest. Each champion can be earn for FREE. Runes Are FREE. You Get 2 Rune pages off the bat and you only really need one once you learn what runes do and what runes to take on each champion you play. Hell you even getting Chest for just playing well on a champion that can give you skin shards that can be upgraded for FREE. To compare Riot Business practices to what EA and Ubisoft is really unfair.

Could you go in depth and explain exactly why you would prefer champion shards in chests ... considering you get 3 champion shards for every time you level up and now on top of clash rewards which will be mainly champion shards. On top of blue essence reward every day for first win.

I am sitting on 43,000 BE with absolutely nothing but a name change to spend it on ... or Clash Tickets which are cheap. What exactly do you need this massive stockpile of BE for ?

To be completely fair. You are more mad that you are still getting champ shards when you already own all the champs then. Most people joined league during season 5 and 6 (i joined during msi season 6). People like that don't own all the champs and we actually enjoy getting champ shards in our chests cause they offer the champ cheaper or give us essence that we need. Also your statement that you only can spend it in 2 ways is false. If you have every champ you can play a champ you have not before get good at them. Get mastery 5 then spend the essence on getting mastery 6+7. And trust ik as a long time league player you don't give a damn about mastery or crap like that. And you also can buy rune pages for when you get auto filled in ranked. Or if you dont do ranked. You can have multiple pages set for different types of champs for aram. The system is designed so that everyone has something they can work towards no matter how much money or time you put in.

Very simple I don't have all the champions , and I would like to have all the champions. This is true for a lot of people, thats why people want champion shards in chests. If you already have all the champions then just get the new masterwork chest, different items for different people its that simple.

They make their money off of skins. They are not entitled to just give you nonstop skin shards just because you have been playing for a long time. The skins used to be ONLY available through buying them now you can save up and get skins for free. But you try to say they are "Just as bad or worse than "x" company" That is like complaining if CoD Bo1 added skins to it. 3 years later they added boxes with the same skins in them but you can decide to purchase the boxes which give skins or CoD points to buy more guns/attachments. They could easily just make only champions go in the boxes

Theoretical probability and experimental probability will always differ, but the more boxes you open the closer the numbers will be to what they have listed.

All the same even if it is a joke some people are upset by it. When they say X has Y % probability; I imagine that it is the amount of numbers given to X. Because most random number generators are based off time, it is possible to have a higher or lower than Y chance of recieving X.

or as awd21 stated, basically more opened = closer to the number is true. it will always hover that percentage, my guess is by margins of ~10%. I.E. you opened 25 boxes, you got 35% skin shards. Totally probably given statistics and probability. Good luck!

I don't understand the hype or hate of these loot boxes. Personally I've been playing this game on and off for far too many years. Hell, I have the ufo corki and silver kayle. As I said FAR TOO LONG. I'm not that great, hell I'm Ok at best hah. But with that said I do have most of the champs, I have way to many skins, and growing stack of BE. When the boxes first came out I wasted a little money to check it out and was quickly disappointed. Having most of the champs I could see it was a waste (for me). So I quit buying them, the only time I get one now is when they toss me a free one and it's mostly garbo and broke down for more BE. So I guess I'm still at a loss, I never paid RP for champs, never, so why are people buying them with RP and getting mad their only getting champ shards. If you want a skin, emote, or ward skin just grab it when it goes on sale. Then you don't have to worry about RNG or anger when you get crap from the boxes. There are also those random chests they have now. Those always give good shit, so just save it for those.

Idk I just don't get it, but that's just my 2gp.

I mean like, you have one small chance at it per champ per seadon. S- and S just give normal chests and you get no more chances. But S+ gives a Masterwork.

By now I would have just bought some keys, BUT if that's an issue then you obtain them through honor (or as you probably know, doing good in game and not being toxic) but they don't come from just that. They come through consecutive good behavior and you get them immediately when you log in. you get more key frags when you level up in honor higher, there's a whole post about the new honor system somewhere, go look it up and it'll explain it better than me.
