As a starting college student just getting into league, I used to look forward to who and what skins were on sale, and Rito would take my freshly earned taco bell wage in exchange for a lissandra or gnar. More experienced league players who were friends of mine would tell me to only purchase RP for skins, not champs. Ofcourse I simply ignored them cause, heck, I'm starting to actually make money and I gotta spend at least a little right?! But now I am kicking myself for doing so, there are less champs to look forward to learning, or champions I somewhat skipped over because I would purchase a different champ 3 days later and I feel horrible wasting my money in such a way. I see skins for sale and that is absolutely fine in every way because those are simple extras that dont affect gameplay (I know, I know DJ sona buffs her whole team with the blessing of da beats, I get it) but, while I'm not sure how other people reacted when learning league, I see the Champion sales as noob traps that I ofcourse fell into. I dont blame Riot since they need to make money somehow, despite complaints, but I'm just curious what other people feel about buying champs with RP.

Its actually not a noob trap, because if you look up the math on it, actually earning every single character with IP is ridiculously hard. If you play 2 games a day every day of every week, it would take almost 2 years to unlock every single champ, not including runes. I could be wrong, but I've been playing for almost 2 years, and i still have a lot of champs to unlock. Waiting for the 6300 champs to go on sale is definitely a good thing. My recommendation is spend about 10 to 15 dollars a month on RP and use that RP to by champs that are on sale. Thats less than a subscription to Wow or another online game, and Riot definitely deserves something for the amount of work they put into this game.

Seriously. Sure, it's FTP, but if you're so willing to drop $60.00 on a static game that doesn't grow and evolve, then what are people so hung up on paying a few sheckles on a game that is constantly evolving, has bug support (regardless of how quickly they're able to actually address it), and is continually trying to create an enjoyable environment for the majority of their players (QQ all you want, they do attempt to keep the game fun. Success rate is another thing, at times....). I've probably spent hundreds on League, but it's also not quite the same game it was, a year ago, let alone futher back. People spend more than I do on console games that they hit-it and quit-it within weeks, sooooo....

I find the 450IP and 1350IP Champs a bit of a waste to spend RP on, even if on sale. The 880RP and 975RP champs are worth getting on sale though. The 3150IP champs are debatable, depends on how much you really want them. As for me, I only spent RP on the 880RP/975RP champs when they went on sale. Was tempted to get a few of the 3150IP champs with RP but never did. Glad I didn't in the long run.

I will say, if you plan on eventually owning them all, the two champ bundles are nice. HOWEVER, find the cheaper champs in the bundles that are 450IP/1350IP and get those first (or at least all the 450IP ones), that way the bundle will cost you less RP cause you will already have some of the champs in them.

P.S. You can also get all the 3150IP champs and the lower ones with IP until you only have the 880RP and 975RP champs left. Then get all those from mystery champ gifting for 390RP until you have 10 left when it won't let you do gifting anymore. lol

Get a champ for an hour of work or like 5-30 hours of league. The idea isn't how much the champion costs in a monetary value($ vs free) but in a time value.

Buying champs with RP in not advisable because if you were just getting into league. The IP wall was created like that so new players won't purchase tons of random champions. This encourages newbies to learn what they purchase, the RP system totally goes over that and we end up getting level 30s with 50+ champs but no real skill anchored on one.

TL;DR: RP to get champs is bad, find a main.
