New PROJECT skins have joined the fight, but that’s not the only upgrade we’ve made to the League store...

On top of acquiring gemstones by chance from Hextech Chest drops, you can also purchase them through PROJECT crafting bundles from August 2 - 7. Limit one bundle per day.

Grants you a guaranteed gemstone and additional loot and crafting materials.

I've always been wary of Riot and their 'offers'. They make light of a concern, namely the availability of gemstones, then present a solution that they play off as a 'pat on the back' to dedicated players.

"In our efforts to make gemstones directly purchasable, we’re also guaranteeing one per day in special bundles for the first six days of this operation."

Apparently it takes a considerable amount of effort to make something directly purchasable. I imagine their design team is hard at work, day and night, trying to make this possible. However, the closest we get to 'directly purchasable' is 'pay >$20 for 1 guaranteed gemstone'. But that's not the worst part! The bundles cost 2950rp. That's 150rp more than the $20 buying option. So if you want 1, you have to spend $35. 2 for $50, yielding a leftover amount of 1300rp. So if I want 3, the $10 - 1350rp option doesn't cover it so I have to pay $20 more dollars JUST FOR ENOUGH RP TO BUY MY 3RD! Now I'm $70 in a hole with 3 guaranteed gems. I've heard of people getting more than 3 gems from spending $50 on regular chest bundles, having no guaranteed gemstones from the start.

When riot banned Tyler1, they said they 'still had our back'. They don't. They're a business so I never expected them to. However, it really rubs me the wrong way when they pretend to care while all they're doing is wiping their butts with money rolls. Meanwhile, the community clings to false promises. I'll be keeping my money, Riot.

Add the fact that you have to get the caches to get the borders on your loading card like the one I got for my PROJECT: Leona just for buying it within the first week of release to your list of how f****d this shit really is.

u can get 7 cores to make the icon for the border for free, next week. and yes next week you still get the border. 1500 ip

Amen. I'll be purchasing one or two of the new project skins; however, as far as I'm concerned, the rest of the content is a slap in the face.

well with the gemstones you get a minimum of 20 other things, 10 of which are GUARANTEED skin shards. and the other 10 is what ever you find in normal chests. so you get a lot more for 2950, then buying a ton of normal boxes i believe. i personally don't even care for the gemstone, i just use it for the skin shards

Hextech Annie, Soulstealer Vayne, and the Hextech ward are available only through gemstones (or the very rare chance of a shard)

Fact of the matter is... This whole thing is about getting skins and borders. Which is all purely cosmetic... You can still play the game investing $0.00 and get the essential things with IP. If these bundles and offers don't appeal to you well simply, don't purchase them, obviously you are not their target market... Yes, Riot isn't charity, it's a company, they want/need to make money. Calm your tatas.

Your reply missed its mark. My comment had nothing to do with whether something is 'essential' or not. The bundle itself does appeal to me. The price, in comparison to the available rp options, does not. As you can clearly ascertain from my post, I am neither against spending money nor the fact that businesses need to make money. My disagreement is with Riot's marketing strategy and, as any level-headed individual would agree, I have every right to express my distaste.

Confused about something i saw on the Project: Disruption page.. So if i buy project fiora now for 1350 do i get the first strike or not? I thought the older project skins wouldn't have first strike anymore considering it was a one time thing..?

They were talking about the Ashe, ekko and Katerina caches, in the EULA ( this or another gaming law\document) they are required by law to make the stuff purchasable using IRL money ( riot points) only by IRL money, and not in game credits (influence points) so that the people who spent money on the game don't feel scammed. So if you could get skins via IP in the caches, how would the people who dumped 500$ into this game feel.... Scammed. The champion caches are purchasable with IP because they don't have actual loot, just components

the caches give 2 skin shards and 2 project cores (with a chance at a cache fragment - and a gem also if i remember correctly). Regardless the 100% chance at getting a gemstone is worth 2K RP in some cases (as RNG is a pain). getting the free cache with the icon bundles for 750 ip each can be pretty good (i got kitty cat kat so im happy either way).

btw 10 gemstones = hextech annie or soulstealer vayne (which are hextech exclusive skins)or 5 gems for the ward...

I hear it's arriving a week from now, so apparently they hope that many will blow their RP in impatience or ignorance. A truly scumbag move, since there exists no good reason for them to not all be released same-day.
But hey, at least there is an IP option, so we can't complain too much, right? :/
