ok...wow. I can see I have a lot to explain. I understand your nations history with magic, but outright trying to destroy it is not a good idea.
It brings nothing but destruction and the world would be better off without it.
Ok how can I explain this...oh. Magic is a lot like water.
How so?
Let's say I am holding a glass of ice cold water in my hand. I can do something good with it and give it to a person that thirsty, or I can do something bad with it by pouring it down their pants.

Now imagined that I brought in so much water that it fills the room, what would happen?
We would drown.
Indeed, now imagined that we cut off all water here, no water in or out. What would happen.
We would get thirsty.
So thirsty that you would die. No only that but you would not be able to grown anything. too much, not enough, or used the wrong way can hurt and even kill you, but you still use water because you need it in order to survive. Magic is the same way. It is the way you use it that matters, and getting rid of it completely will do nothing but kill you from the inside.
I still do not like or want to use magic.
Not wanting to use it is fine, but accept that it is around you, inside you, and that magic in of itself is not evil.
How can one use magic for good?
