Hallelujah! Quite the long journey it's been, except when you look back and realize 4 months have flown by. Looking forward to my customary first-game loss with a new skin!

It was a very interesting process and development and I'm glad that Riot decided to try something new. As agonizing as it was to see the headline about voting (meaning a new skin was still months away), seeing Battlecast on the list got me pretty excited. I regrettably remain a bit bitter regarding everyone who was hating on the theme, but of course the data was provided and vindication was felt. It's not like those other skins will never be made, just not made right now, etc.

If you people are looking for feedback regarding ever doing something like this again I'd definitely offer some thoughts I have.

Ty again for this skin. I love Illaoi, I love Battlecast, I think I can forgive her rebellious ways as I smash my way to victory. For the Glorious Revo--- ahem--- Resistance!

I think the most interesting part for me was when you discuss the unique difficulties that came with making a skin for Illaoi, discussing like, number of animations, rig restrictions, how accessible/editable current assets are, things like that. I know it helped me understand why deciding to produce a new skin for some champs isn't as easy as I originally thought.

not something to do differently, but something I hope you keep doing- when you bring out a skin for a champ who hasn't gotten one in a long time(or ever especially) I hope you guys do chromas for them too, if they fit. its a great way to add a lot of variety that illaoi players have felt they didn't have before with only one skin.

So if you were to do like, Chinese storm dragon aurelion sol, or something (js, going back to the old ao shin theme would make a lit skin), consider doing chromas for it too. It's the ideal situation for chromas.

Yeah I feel like storm and lightning effects would be easy to adapt to his spells. And ao shin had a great look you could take inspiration from, adapt it to a sol's dragon dad bod.

I'm really happy with resistance illaoi and I liked following the development process

Edit: it would be cool to see more of the spell effects process next time, like we saw concept art iteration on the tentacles and then they jumped to the final model for the tentacles. It was cool to see how the q effects developed maybe more of that?

Not gonna lie, I'm actually pretty disappointed with how this skin turned out.

First off, not a huge fan of the battlecast, and voted otherwise, but alas, somebody out there wanted this mess..

On top of that, the chromas are very lackluster -- why do nearly all of them have vibrant red tentacles instead of tentacles related to their chromas?

I'm sure they did their best; can't please everyone. Thanks Riot.

This is literally a lie? First off; (in the video for the post you are literally commenting on) explicitly one of the chromas has ORANGE tentacles while the rest of them have some very SLIGHT variation of red..

On top of that, a quick youtube search shows Meowkai ult roots are all different colors in chromas. But please continue commenting without researching.

It's a cool skin and all, but honestly I don't think it lives up to the hype. For as long as you guys spent publicly patting yourselves on the back over how intricate the development process was, I was expecting a spirit-guard-udyr-level awesome skin. Huge disappointment. Maybe next time save the hype for a hype-worthy project?

I'm not sure it was a hype thing, they just wanted to show us the process and have the community be a part of the skin. I don't think many people were expecting an ultimate skin? It was just a journey. The development process is intricate, that's the way it is, just cause they showed us doesn't mean we should expect more from them.

I was really concerned about where this was going, "How the *!$# is allaoi going to be a battlecast?!". And the switch with it is THE BEST concept. This opens a line that would be amazing to see with a few other champs! Champs with will power to fight of change. I could see this working out. [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

This is the battlecast skin? or do you not pay attention? Battlecast exist in a universe where humanity is being over-run by machines and basically being killed or turned into machines themselves. Resistance Illaoi is the tale of someone resisting that opression and that change and using it to fight back, like Blade fights vampire, Illaoi is half machine, fighting machines for humanity. Do i like the skin? not personally, i think it was the blandest option and voted for the adventure, as Indian Jones and Laura Croft are more interesting to me then The Terminator. But yeah, this is "Battlecast" Illaoi, it just has a different name of "Resistance" because she isn't a Battlecast robot, she is resisting them.

Riot makes a vote. Riot lies about what you're voting on. While Illaoi fans were fighting with each other over getting one single skin for a champion who deserves better, Riot churned out piles of generic crap for champions who already have way too many skins.

What we got very closely matches the original 'vote' art. The only 'major' change was that the tentacles stayed tentacles instead of tentacles+hand, this was done because it was deemed too drastic a change.

So, again, where's the lie?

The cleavage calls back to gritty pulp comic books of the 90's and at the time it dominated any conversation about the Battlecast concept. People were either talking about the story hook of Deep Space, the potential of Adventurer as a new skin line, or they were drooling over the boob window. It is obvious that is what made the skin stand out, it is obvious that was the reason it won, it is obviously core to the design of the skin and changing it invalidates the entire voting process.

Riot changed it due to complaints on the forums and comments sections even though Red Posts admitted that those complaints were ill-informed and presented an obviously false interpretation of Illaoi's character. Sex-negative comments about non-standard female body types mean that female characters Riot puts out are not allowed to have sexy skins unless they fit the standard female media body type.

Personally, I don't play much Illaoi, if at all, but I really enjoyed the journey of making the skin. I voted for her Adventurer skin and at first wasn't thrilled Battlecast/Resistance was the one that won but I don't play the champ much so it didn't matter to me in the end. I really like it now. I see a lot of people complaining about a lot of skins, most recently the new Miss Fortune Ultimate skin, but I really like all the skins Riot releases. I may not play every champion and I may not like every single skin but I appreciate what they do and the process the skins go through. I appreciate this skin a lot more now and if I started playing Illaoi I'd get it (or hope they make the Indiana Jones skin). I understand people being upset or not liking it but I don't think it's unfair or that Riot cheated us the way some player think they did. Overall, I appreciate everything Riot does and can't wait to see if you guys will do another skin with collaboration from the community. [sg-kiko]
