She's really fun but very different and you can build her and max her at least 2 distinctly different ways depending on your playstyle, team comp, match-up, etc. which is part of why her numbers are often overall fairly low; a combination of people trying to learn her and people not understanding that most champions don't do so well using the same exact build every game, especially not Rek'Sai. I'd recommend trying her before buying her, especially with RP, but if you're limited on time to earn champions with BE and you know that you enjoy tanks and fighters with high mobility then she's your girl and well worth the less than 5 bucks to have her now, as opposed to sometime this month depending on how lucky you are with boxes/addicted to the game. If you are looking for a braindead champ to curb stomp people with the same build every game then you should look into someone else like Udyr or Shyvanna, because Rek'Sai requires you to actually pay attention to what you're building, full AD/Lethality, full tank, or bruiser, and why. I think it has to do with the changes they made to the shop's AI during the Harrowing a few weeks ago, when the shop first came out at the start of the Harrowing my friends and I had some really great deals for champs that we played the most but when they re-rolled the shop to change up the AI we all had our best deals on champs we didn't play much, if at all, and the worst deals on the champs we played more often than once or twice a month.
