Big Plays Spotlight: Xpecial sets up the penta
Welcome to the Big Plays Spotlight! In this feature, we highlight the most epic plays, from meticulously-coordinated early tower dives to mind-blowing escapes from one side of the Rift to the other.
It’s easy to credit Team SoloMid’s Bjergsen for his penta last weekend, but it was Xpecial’s initiate that gave Bjergsen’s Karma complete freedom to clean up the fight, launching TSM into a comeback victory in Game 2 of the best-of-three semifinal series.
Counter Logic Gaming ransacked TSM in Game 1 and held a gold lead for most of Game 2. Inching their way back, Xpecial’s clutch Flash Flay into Box pushed CLG back as Bjergsen steamrolled the rest of CLG. This critical teamfight not only won TSM Game 2 but broke CLG’s back going into Game 3, showing how one moment can completely change the complexion of a semifinal series.
