The 2017 ranked season has started!

Ranked Queues

This year, climb the ladder in your choice of two competitive ranked queues on Summoner’s Rift: Solo/Duo and Flex. With independent ratings and different skills to master, climb to your peak in both queues to earn additional end-of-season rewards!

With the introduction of Ranked Flex Twisted Treeline, queue up solo or as a group and carve your legacy in the altars of the Shadow Isles.

Placements

While the preseason was shorter this year than ever before, your 2017 ranked adventure will begin with a fresh set of ten placement matches in both Solo/Duo and Flex. Your preseason ratings influence where you’ll land, but most of you should expect to start your climb lower than where you finished last season.

Champion Mastery Chests

The start of a new season means a new chance to earn loot. Hit S- or higher on a champ, or queue with someone who does, to unlock a Hextech Chest. As in previous seasons, you can earn one chest per champ until the next reset.

Replays

Want to spread the word about your sweet penta? Feel like hitting the lab to analyse your jungle pathing? Just how long was the enemy team camping in the Baron pit? With the client update, you can download your replays in the post-game screen or your match history and clip highlights to share or review.

Flex IP Boost (even for solos!)

We’re going to be launching Ranked Flex with a flat IP boost throughout the first week of the season. You’ll earn +50% extra IP in Ranked Flex between December 7 at 16:00 PST and December 14 at 15:59 PST. Whether you’re a solo warrior, a five-person clown fiesta, or anywhere in between, everyone will avail of the same IP bonus.

Oh, and by the way: due to limitations with the way IP boosts are implemented, it will appear that solo players are not included here, but this is purely a display issue - you’ll still receive the +50% extra IP at the end of the game!

Last year they gave us a +400% IP boost for five mans. This year +50%.

If they really want to encourage solos to play flex, they should bother to fix the display issue, and make the IP bonus BIGGER for flex solos, don't you think?

And probably just make some degree of IP boost for solos in flex permanent. That way maybe they could actually turn on 4s.

Oh boy, while I love the fact Solo Que is a thing ... i'm a Support Main so I might go into Flex with 2-3 friends because I need people I can depend on. Granted I climbed mostly on my own last season but after 700 games, I want to reach Plat in less time XD.

In before "You want to get boosted?" Nope, just need good backup like everyone could use :) I depend on my skills to help shape the game. Good luck everyone!

Next URF should be Bard-Themed, with Baron as a giant meep with two smaller meep heads, all dragons have a Bard mask on, and meeps crowd the walls encircling both epic monster camps, jumping and cheering. A Bard summoner icon, and a meep summoner icon. Merch that says "Who needs friends when you have meeps?", plus meeps, a Bard skin for EVERY CHAMPION (Aurelion Sol in Bard-form with three meeps circling him instead of stars, Illaoi with giant meeps for tentacles, Corki's ult fires a meep instead of a rocket. And Bard himself? Well, all chimes and meeps are turns into mini versions of Bards. So you run around the map collecting Bards and throw Bard at people, etc.)

Theres a trick to get one more rune page than you already had. Go in and change all of the runes on a page (say make it AP even if it was an AD page before) and dont save it. Just hover on it while you're waiting for the queue to pop up and itll ask you in queue if you want to save it, if you got the role* you wanted, save it, and if not, dont. not entirely constant cus of bans and everything but its still a useful trick.

I had to re-read your comment to understand, but that's really smart. Not exactly an extra rune page, but close enough if you have few pages... Say you have only 2, AD and AP, but want a Tank page as well for support. If you get mid, then you don't save your tank page over the AP, but if you get support you do. Then you have runes for AD and AP mids, as well as tank supports.

I seriously don't understand ranked. Why, in my placements, am i getting to go against diamond level players, to determine me getting silver or gold again? The placements seem to ONLY be random, and it hurts me bad if I lose, even though they are diamond players.

Does the 50% ip bonus stack with the 30 day ip boost? Does it add together or multiply together? I'm considering a 30 day ip boost, but only if i get the boost multiplies off the 50% bonus ip from the flex queue bonus. Yeah, I'm greedy

I really don't like that you have to be level 30 to play ranked. I think it should be around level 15 or something. I'm just wondering if there is a particular reason for making it level 30. (I am level 12, by the way)

once you hit lv 30 this game becomes extremely harder compared to what you're used to. The champs you thought you mained will be beaten by everyone you'll play matches and feel like shit because either you feed and you'll lose or you'll feed and your team will carry you. Also at lv 12 I dont think you even have the requirements for champs along with at least a basic rune page for ad and ap

When I was lv.22, I thought I was hot stuff and thought I was ready for ranked. However, hitting level 30 subjects you to games with people that actually have a full understanding of objective control and junglers that can impact--and the game becomes completely different. It took ~6 months after hitting lv.30 before I could even feel an actual difference between good rune pages--mostly because I only had two full rune pages by the time I hit 30.

Trust me, nobody prior to lv.30 is ready--and once you get there, expect to be schooled a lot before you can start competing.

ended g2 with plat mmr, placed g2 in preseason, end up placing s2 after this round of placements. If you were going to lower our placement that much why tf would you even make us waste time doing preseason placement. And you wonder why blizzard is so much better than your trash ass company, thanks for fucking yet another thing up gonna be glad when league dies out, not much longer till it does with the amount of bs yall do.

They have to lower everybody due to the maximum rank given being plat 1, usually reserved for the challengers and masters. If your so good, you can just climb again easily.
