I won't comment on new Swain, just going to comment that I'll miss old Swain is all. He was a reliable ol' bird for years and served the League well. He'll be remembered by many.

I'm genuinely curious, this rework seems like a completely different champion. Why can't we keep old Swain?

MrMante2/7/2018, 5:04:06 PM7 votes

Just logged in to say that this champ is crap now. I keep seeing them feeding in all games.

Another rework that basically removes the old champion in favor of a new one with the same name...... and I'm not even going to be offered the option to return/refund him.

Once again, it's not cool to take people's money for something, just to turn around and FUNDAMENTALLY change it without any real input from the players, and on top of that, you don't even offer ANY sort of compensation for the people who never would have bought the "updated" champ that you just replaced their old main with.

Here's a list of especially egregious changes made to champions that COMPLETELY changed how they are fundamentally played and Riot has not offered any sort of compensation for:

Swain Gangplank Sion Urgot Karma Fiora Taric Poppy Ryze x2

Then there are the champs that may not have had their 'core identities' changed, but still received major ability changes that killed/completely changed certain playstyles:

Shen Vladimir Mordekaiser Rammus Alistar Galio Draven Soraka Graves Malzahar

There's a few more I'm likely forgetting, but there it is; at least 20 times Riot made MAJOR changes to champs basically because they want to force certain playstyles.

Some of these are more palatable than others. For example, the Sion Rework is pretty fun as a playstyle, as well as the new Galio being extremely fun to play (Still miss old Galio though). But it's certainly possible (actually rather likely) that there are people who no longer like playing them.

Because I sure know that I hate playing New Shen when I think about old Shen, and I just completely hate the New GP, not even finding any sort of fun while playing him. I don't want to play Dominoes with barrels, but because I bought GP before his rework, I am now FORCED to either play a style I don't enjoy, or I can completely discard all the time and learning I put into old GP and move on..... but is that really fair to me?

And are we going to get ANY compensation for the 'First Win of The Day' being down? Somehow I highly doubt it, even though what harm would it do to riot if they simply gave everyone 500 BE for the hassle? What's the worst that will do to their precious economy?

Riot should really start thinking about these kinds of situations. We understand your game goes through changes, but it's a little ridiculous for you to expect us to just be Ok With every change you make. And a little generosity goes a long way Riot.

As one final aside, something no one at Riot has probably thought of; because I was never given the option to return reworked characters (don't even care if all I got was BE or a single Hextech chest) and because I happen to ONLY PLAY ARAM, I am now LITERALLY FORCED to play champs I didn't buy and aren't on free week, when I don't have any rerolls left, and that feels pretty bad.

P.S. PLEASE make it so I can easily tell how many rerolls (progress to next roll as well) I have in not only the Profile page, but also in Champ select for ARAM. This feature used to be there AS WELL as being able to buy champs and look at skills from champ Select...... please add this back in even though it is rarely used.

It looks like a more flashy vlad. Doesn't feel unique anymore.

It's gonna take some getting use to, however, that being said, I actually really like it. I can forsee Swain being a force to be reckoned with once we get the hang of him

this way worse then the annie story come on

What possesses you to change a champion almost entirely. Everything has changed, he's not swain anymore, he didn't need such a massive rework, this sucks! Did the same to Poppy, entirely new champ. Really disappointed and makes me not wanna play ugh

I usually enjoy the reworks and revamps of champs in this game for the change of pace but this update has definitely gone in the wrong direction. I consider myself to be a decent Swain player and I must say this update has completely destroyed his place in the game.

Swain's prior play style allowed for a moderate level of safety against most match ups while still able to push damage out. His dynamic was simple and powerful, yet still allowed room for counter play so you couldn't be over bearing. He had a moderate level of burst damage while focusing more so on sustaining fights. Had the kill potential to make the opponent second guess if they really want to attack or not.

The new Swain hasn't shown any the aforementioned features.

The current Swain has absolutely zero kill potential in most, if not all, 1v1 situations without appropriate items, and all the items for him are extremely late game centered. Even in team fights he doesn't show very strong unless his team focuses on supporting him. It feels like the concept of making Swain a sustain mage overrode him having actual kill pressure.

The mechanics of his skills don't quite "make the cut" in practice either.

The new passive is so/so. Helps to make up the sustain Swain no longer gets from a toggle ultimate but is still a pale in comparison for impactful play. His Q is cool but its just Ashe's W with a short range. Also the full intent of the skill requires extremely close proximity to his target, which is something Swain doesn't actually want to happen due to his typical opponents being stronger at melee range. The New W skill sounds cool for utility but it takes away from Swain's battle capabilities that the his former W gave him. The snare was a much needed and strategic skill to cut off paths from fleeing enemies or make a hard path for his pursuers. Now he jus gets a wide range, long cast time skill that will only rarely create impact in a fight if ever. Now for the E skill, This skill is rather interesting to play with but has caused a massive skill cap raise to swain play all together. It is visually and dynamically the best skill change that I would keep due to the impact it gives to Swain's playstyle. The updated Ultimate. This change is the one I honestly say went in the right direction but missed the mark. The ulti looks great but the damage from it is rather disappointing to say the least.

All in all that's what I get from this rework. Not to bash on the developers and designers but I hope this isn't the end for Swains rework.

The new Swain makes me lag anytime I go near him or try to attack him or he attacks me. Please Rito. Can you please disable him from ranked until you figure out a solution. I was playing Solo Queue as Pantheon in top lane with summoner 4 summoner 12 if that makes any difference.

I actually think this update is pretty cool, his ult is way more intense looking and it seems like he's a long range control mage, something we haven't really seen yet

I wish they kept the perks of some champs that make them who they are like ryze and orrn, and stop adding the old items from long ago
