Rotating game mode queue now live!

From the original clone-tastic One For All to the frenetic manatee magic of Ultra Rapid Fire, featured game modes provide unique spins on the classic League formula. We’re kicking off the next game mode in the rotation: Legend of the Poro King is now live!

As a refresher on the mode, let’s go over the basics:

When you jump into a Poro King match on the Howling Abyss, you’ll be joined by two poro pals in your quest to call forth and aid your poro majesty
The Poro King is a mega-classy super minion that heals your team, regenerates mana, and deals AoE damage while handing out royal beatdowns to enemy towers
The King will serve as a sieging dynamo for you until he is killed by the enemy team in a regicide most foul
Activate Poro Toss once to toss your teeny poro pal across the map, if the lil fella hits a target, you can reactivate Poro Toss to Poro Dash, which will send you soaring towards an unlucky enemy
Land 10 Poro Tosses as a team and the Poro King himself will plop down to begin his royal wreckery
Once you or your team has summoned the Poro King, activate To The King! To transform into one of the king’s loyal (fluffy) subjects and fly to his side

Just as in any rotating queue game mode, we’ve specially tuned Champion Mastery so you can earn points in the mode. You’ll also be able to earn keys for your wins and loot chests for your (or your premade’s) S-, S, and S+ games. Unlike other Champion Mastery-enabled queues, rotating game modes DO NOT reward mastery tokens towards levels 6 and 7.

Legend of the Poro King is now available and lasts through the evening on Sunday (we’ll shut it down early Monday morning--usually between 1:00 AM and 3:00 AM).

We’ll be trying out different things with the rotating game mode queue over the next few months, such as potentially turning it on longer depending on how popular it is, changing the mode cadence or what modes are available. We’re looking for your feedback as we go, so let us know. GLHF, and we’ll see you on the snowy battlefield of Legend of the Poro King!

Give other game modes a try, urf can get stale, i personally enjoy it more than the rest but i still like playing the other modes. we had urf 2 weeks ago and my Fingers almost fell off.

And then we say: "yes please, make it longer, especially for us who don't get to play weekends. Oh and why hadn't we seen doom bots or bilge-water?"

Yet none of our requests are even given a shred of more information like "we're considering doom-bots. our devs are working on getting it ready." or "it just wouldn't make sense for us thematically to bring back bilgewater, gp already died and came back" or "Sorry weekend workers, we hate you. gl;hf in norms, ranked and aram" or "Sorry weekend workers, we hate you. but look at the bright side you get to take advantage of all the discounts on things like movies and topgolf mid week-day that us week-day works dont get. (ps thats why we hate you and you're never getting RGM during the week)"

Riot if you want people to play league instead of overwatch try putting GOOD games on RGM like URF or BMB or Doombots or anything except the second poroking and the third acension

Ascension is my favorite of these rotating game modes so far because it doesn't get as stale as quickly as the others.

I think a lot of it comes down to what champs are considered useful or powerful in each game mode. I understand Poro King frustration because it's got a lot in common with ARAM, but Ascension is a great mode for assassins and various top lane champs, which I love because top is (potentially) the most champion-diverse role in the game, and there are a ton of champions that I love up there that I never ever get to play on SR...so I run them on Ascension and have a blast.

Because people only play these game modes because they're exclusive for the time being, I see why you guys won't make them available all the time (because the community doesn't know what's good for them and only wants U.R.F.) but it would be cool if they were more frequent because some people actually want to play Dominion, One-for-All, and Hexakill.

That was the point, cramming six people into a three person map means more interaction than SR. I personally can't enjoy this gamemode because people are idiots and deny that you can jungle in TT WHEN THERE IS FUCKING SMITE

Poro king's alright. But I do kinda wish it wasn't as snowball-y as it is. Give the losing team a fairer chance to make a comeback somehow.

On another note, I think it'd be cool if two game modes were combined. Like having a Hexakill/URF combo game mode one weekend.

I'm finding myself drawn to Overwatch unless its URF. that said, URF 24/7 would be too much. im good with what you are doing right now. Weekends are good. more fun than regular play for e.

Damn, didn't Ascension just happen like a couple of days ago? Already coming back soon? Idk how people like it, it is so boring imo, and feels like it's always there. Or maybe i'm just exaggerating bc I hate that mode so much lol. I personally enjoy URF and One for All the most, but at least they will be available more frequently than before.

depends of the champ and the general role that you played as in the game, for example if you were a support, then you'll need more assists than that to get S- or more

ascension is used so much it has been on the rotation like five times and is still pretty fun but urf has only been in the rotation twice and man would i love to see it a LOT more mostly for the item 3152 and Rengar

I would love an extension of the que being up, personally I work mainly on the weekends so I miss out on the majority of the uptime with the current schedule
