Rotating game mode queue now live!

From the original clone-tastic One For All to the frenetic manatee magic of Ultra Rapid Fire, featured game modes provide unique spins on the classic League formula. It’s time to kick things off with the next game mode in the rotation: Ascension is now live!

As a refresher on the mode, let’s go over the basics:

Unlike Summoner’s Rift, you can’t walk out of your base to reach the battle; you’ll have to use the Golden Transcendence trinket or right-click a pad to teleport into the fray
Earn victory by scoring points; the first team to 200 takes it down
You earn 1 point for kills, 3 for capturing a Shuriman relic, 5 for landing the killing blow on an Ascended champion, and 2 points for each kill you acquire while Ascended
Claim Ascension by taking down Ancient Ascendant Xerath in the center of the map (he’ll respawn after the Ascended champion dies)
Be cautious when approaching the Ascendant, you'll need your whole team to battle him and claim the buff
The Ascension buff yields awe-inspiring power including bonus health and infinite mana, AD & AP, CDR, as well as armor and magic pen
The gifts of Ascension come with a price: healing and regeneration effects are halved and the opposing team always has vision on Ascended champs

We did touch up the visuals slightly while specially tuning Champion Mastery so you can earn points in the mode. You’ll also be able to earn keys for your wins and loot chests for your (or your premade’s) S-, S, and S+ games.

Ascension is now available and lasts through the evening on Monday (we’ll shut it down very early Tuesday morning--usually between 1:00 AM and 3:00 AM).

I've been playing league for 5 years and I've always respected Riot's dedication to pleasing its fanbase, however lately I've just been disappointed. I'm certainly not naive enough to think Urf being here permanently or every other week is ever gonna happen, but there have been so many constant comments about people wanting Urf back for just a week, or people expressing their dislike for Poro king, and yet nothin changes. I wish Riot would at least comment on why they seem to be ignoring these overflowing comments.

URF is for one thing, probably the most difficult game mode to keep up to date (besides Doom Bots maybe). Secondly..... eh, I'll let someone else talk about URF's broken meta.

I understand that it's difficult for them to upkeep and that it takes a lot of maintenance during its up-time. I'm just wondering why all these posts go with no red responses. I'd be more than satisfied if I just had a Riot answer as to the reasoning.

I legitamately think it's because of how popular urf is, they know the other modes wont get played as much when urf is up, so they dont want all the modes to be deserted, if this is the case (which i believe it is) then the reason they dont comment about it is so people dont see them admitting they know itll desert the other modes

I love URF as much as the next person, but...Poro King is one of my favorite rotating game modes. I don't know why people don't like it...? I also love just regular ARAM too though....so there's that ^^; I would be upset if they removed Poro King.

It's not that people don't like it. People want a new gamemode. Poro King is basically aram where you get to chose your champions. It's nothing gamechanging and doesn't change your style of play. People want a DIFFERENT gamemode that has a DIFFERENT playstyle. In urf, the game is very fast pace, and you are ALWAYS fighting, there is very little downtime, which is what makes it so fun.

(Also, most tank mains like myself love LotPK because you can pick your main and skip the obnoxious laning phase to get straight to the teamfights where you do best)

Aram/poro king is a neverending teamfight. Its just the teamfight part of 5v5's and thats it. URF is EXACTLY 5v5 but WAY faster pace than aram is.

I understand your point but more people enjoy playing urf over poro king. The fact that we have gotten more poro king than urf regardless of it being more popular just shows how little riot cares. If this is another solo queue/dynamic queue issue, it will be a few more months until riot finally starts giving the playerbase what they want.

When I said:

I was implying that most of the community doesn't mind playing the other gamemodes. We don't want urf EVERY weekend. But we sure as hell don't want 2 weekends of urf for every 10 weekends of poroking or hexakill. I guess I just did a bad job of saying it. (because really these statements are very different XD)

I don't actually have any numbers but unless the poro king community is quiet and doesn't say anything, URF is publicized as the most popular gamemode.

I am sure it is coming back. With ARURF, it is going in the right directions. Now I would love to see URF with 10 bans though. Would be a good place to test the 10 bans.

poro king's not bad. i play it a few times during the weekend. i play one for all a few times that weekend. spam urf. don't play any of the others

What Riot should do is instead of giving us a long boring month of Poro King for he holiday break, say MERRY FRIKIN CHRISTMAS, and give us a month of URF, and that would make up for giving us only about 10ish days of URF so far this year

Has anyone gotten the Alpha tester icon that Riot said they would give out? I've been using the Alpha client for a while and Riot said anyone who logged into it before November 15th would get the icon.
