Rotating game mode queue now live!

From the original clone-tastic One For All to the sand-strewn battlefield of Ascension, rotating game modes provide unique spins on the classic League formula. It’s time to kick things off with the next game mode in the rotation: Hexakill: Twisted Treeline is now live!

For a refresher on the mode, let’s go over the basics:

It’s Twisted Treeline, so there are altars to capture and a nexus to explodify.
It’s Hexakill. So there are six champs on your team instead of three.

As in any rotating queue game mode, we’ve specially tuned Champion Mastery so you can earn points in the mode. You’ll also be able to earn keys for your wins and loot chests for your (or your premade’s) S-, S, and S+ games.

Hexakill: Twisted Treeline is now available and lasts through the evening on Sunday (we’ll shut it down very early Monday morning--usually between 1:00 AM and 3:00 AM).

Up next is One For All next weekend, followed by Ascension and the return of Ultra Rapid Fire. If you need to catch up on the rules for any game mode, check back at leagueoflegends.com each Friday, and we’ll give you the lowdown in a quick post like this one.

We’ll be trying out different things with the rotating game mode queue over the next few months, such as potentially turning it on longer depending on how popular it is, changing the mode cadence or what modes are available. We’re looking for your feedback as we go, so let us know. GLHF, and we’ll bring a sixth man alongside you in the Twisted Treeline this weekend.

Believe me when I say this: doom bots is not simple to program at all. Especially with all of the reworks and changes champions have received that were doom bots. It'll take a while.

BRING BACK DBOD!

I really enjoyed DBoD because they offered unique challenges. The bots were ridiculously OP, and we knew that, but we still tried to defeat them. And when we did, it was just so satisfying.

Although, I do agree with ChaosThief. It would be very laborious to update all of the bots, etc. However, I honestly think that DBoD was one of the best Featured Game Modes because it encouraged cooperation and teamwork. It was a kind of boss-level-style of game mode that we don't see much of in League. Dragon and Baron don't really count–only Xerath in Ascension, and even then, he isn't THAT hard to kill.

As the guy who stated over and over again his disappointment with URF not showing up on April 1st due to genuine life-important things related to it. Upset that it would barely be around this year for genuine reasons.

You're sad for no reason. They've since stated that gamemodes would be expected to return "1.5~2 months" the fact that URF came back after only 4 weeks is incredible. It's a very positive and hope-giving state.

Think of it this way, if it came back every 4 weeks, that'd be more URF in a year than BOTH of the previous years combined (2.5 x 13 = 32.5. Previous years were about 13~14 days each). Even if it came back every 2 months that'd be 6x2.5 (15) days. And that's if they decide not to give more than just the weekend. Which they really ought to do given the number of people who can't play on weekends.

All in the all, the future looks bright.

General list of modes you haven't had yet which would be nice: 1 Dominion 2 Doom Bots 3 Black Market Brawlers 4 Nemesis Draft (I know this is really unlikely, but it was and still is by far my favorite).

the whole point is to have a ton of champs on a really little map. having it on SR would remove half of that equasion.

They did have Hexakill on SR before. It was basically the exact same except with another support top most of the time though, which was not particularly fun or exciting.

actually Hexakill was originally on SR. It made for some interesting games, but it wasn't anything special. That said, I would still enjoy having it back one weekend

I agree, it was super awkward. People didn't know what to do with the extra person on the team, and it was very rare that people got hexakills. I think it is much better on treeline (would be cool on howling abyss too!) because it is constant action, and hexakills are more likely to occur.

New game mode idea 'To the Death'. Where you start at level 18 and every death you lose a level with no chance to regain it. However starting gold and items could remain the same.

The problem is someone can prob afk. Just not fight etc so when everyone is low leveled. he just runs in and just swoops in kills. wont work whatsoever. and the fact that you would either be kicked out or forced to be level 1 with no power no nothing against probably easily winnable enemy laners etc. so pretty much. No. This will 100% not happen and it wont work.

Implement a level decay every 1:45 while not moving and every 1:00 in fountain, and/or perhaps make getting a kill raise your level by 1 up to level 18. I mean I just pulled these off the top of my head so I don't think Riot would be too strapped trying to think of solutions to the problems you presented. Don't shoot down ideas too fast!

I really enjoy the rotating game mode thanks riot. If possible I would also like to see the game mode (don't remember the name) where your team chooses the champions the enemy team will be playing. That mode was fun and you never knew what you were going to have to play.

I have to disagree. While I like the idea behind the game mode, every game I played had either a) A troll who would give a power champ(Yi) b) A player who didn't understand that they just gave the enemy a powerful champ c) A game with 10 subpar characters.

Instead, I'd like to see a game mode similar to draft pick, where at the end, the champions were randomly distributed among the 10 players. This would lead to more balanced picks, with weird team comps.

Definitely agree with Doom bots (After you revamp them from reworked champions/add new bots of doom) Black market brawlers would be nice again as well, maybe a dominion rotation somewhere in there so the hide and seek players can have their weekend of fun again.

This, very this. People make urf suck when they find the 16 most op champs ever and only use those, experiment, have some fun, stop picking the same 16 over and over, we cant ban enough of them to stop this, I for one would like to see urf, on rift, but all random choice champs, force people to try something urf is all fun anyway, even if you lose it can be fun to spam 3392483248 of X skill. Of course I would just love an aram on rift, I don't like being confined to a single lane, but I like the idea of getting 5 random things and just dealing with it, makes you branch out, who knows could find your next fav sup or jung

have an ARAM style for picking champs but for URF. u can have a reroll/trade but what u get is what ur stuck with

Thanks for scheduling to bring URF back so soon!!!! I do enjoy the rotating modes. For someone that likes the lighter side of league, not playing ranked, this has been a welcome change.
