Music Team Q&A on 1/29

Riot·Jan 28, 2015·0 votes·10,998 views

You’ve probably noticed that it’s been a busy week for music in the League of Legends universe. With that, we thought it’d be a good idea to round up a few of the Rioters behind the documentary Frequencies, the music video “The Curse of the Sad Mummy,” and The Music of League of Legends album for a little Q&A.

If you’ve got any burning questions about our latest music releases, head on over to the Boards at 12 PM PST on 1/29 for a behind-the-music chat with these Rioters:

Christian “Praeco” Linke
Alexander “Scherzophrenia” Temple
Sebastien “Chemicalseb” Najand
Dan “marignak” Negovan
Eugene “kyugene” Kang
Jason “chupacobbler” Willey
Lisa “Saiyaka” Thorn
Tyler “RiotGoodKing” Eltringham

Check out all the new stuff here:

Probably nobody will see this from Riot, but could you publish the sheet music for these songs? Thank you very much. Keep up the fantastic work!

Is this music video possibly just the first in a series that will include all champions? Because that would make 2015 for me. (also, FIRST TO MAKE A COMMENT THAT MATTERS!)

nightsharksJan 28, 20156 votes

-What's your process in making the music? -How do you think of ideas for new songs? Does someone tell you "Make something Freljord-y" or do you think of the concepts directly? -What kind of experience/education do you need to have in order to get a job at the music department at Riot? Or at any music department like that for that matter. -How many more of these music compilations can we expect to see? The latest release was labeled Vol 1...does this mean more in the future?

As a prospective composition student, I'm really interested in things like this. Thanks for the opportunity Rito!

Kïwi FruitJan 29, 20152 votes

If you watch the documentary, all these questions are pretty much answered.

Shhh it's nice hearing it directly from a Rioter...

Hello, My name is Thomas and as a trombone player and a player of this game I would just like to say that the music for this game is phenomenal; however, I was wondering how one like myself could become a part of making music for this game. Thank-you for reading my comment and see you on the rift.

TelepathicTaco7Jan 29, 20152 votes

I absolutely love all of the music from league, there isn't a single song or log in screen theme that I don't have on my ipod. I am curious, what is the band or orchestra that you get to do the music for you? Or what bands are involved? Who are the people who write the music? Also, I noticed in the new "The Music of League of Legends" album, some of the log in screen themes were redone into actual songs, such as Tide Caller where as other log in screens had the song already completed and were just in the album, like Braum's theme. I was wondering how someone would get involved with the music for league of legends. I was also wondering, will more albums be coming out in the future? Hope to hear from you!

Sincerely, the banjo player...

Just kidding, I'm actually the sexy sax man.

Cripple OracleJan 29, 20151 votes

SHEET MUSIC PLEASE! WE WANT TO GIVE YOU OUR WALLTETS!

RyanxietyJan 29, 20151 votes

Love the music in League of Legends! Great job with it Rito! Sona

MrDoctorDIVJan 29, 20151 votes

Now, if these could be selectable/customizable for in-game on the all new Sum Rift [to keep with increase fidelity]. Like a list for it to play/shuffle through, or just one to repeat. Unless/along side any plans you have to update in-game music with this well made music group.

P.S. I have music deactivated, so any past changes to music I'm full ignorant to, but this would change that. Hard to beat being Thunderstruck during epic moments.

KnightKvJan 29, 20151 votes

Sheet music for the alto sax would be sweeeeeeeeeeeet.
