Ian McShane is amazing as always, Gillian Anderson is super great, Orlando Jones is amazing as Mr. Nancy, Peter Stormare is also in it, thought they haven't gotten to Czernobog yet. (Remember him from Fargo and about fifty thousand other things he's been in?)
Great show, great book. Can't wait for season 2.
I notice you didn't mention Ricky Whittle's performance as Shadow. I don't envy any young actor trying to share a screen with Ian McShane, considering relentlessly charismatic the latter constantly is, but I had to give Whittle props. He does really great subtle facial acting throughout the first season, which speaks to what a unique kind of person Shadow is. It's most noticeable when tragedy and abuse are hurled his way, and you can tell that he's actively pushing down his rage.
I saw the pilot episode and it was really good. Amazing acting, good writing, and good camera work.
The violence and gore kind of came out of nowhere IMO. It felt a bit overdone. So I wasn't really fond of it and ended up stopping.
I might read the book now though. And maybe someday if I'm in the mood I'll check out the show again.
I love the show but i'm always nit picking the things they change from the books.
I read the books Series/Movies always lack when compared to the book that brought them to life! mehehehehehehehehehehehehehe
