Attack speed items should show you how much attacks per second they actually give you.
So if you wonder how attack speed works, every champion has a base value that represents how much attacks per second they can dish out without any items. For example, Akali is sitting at the highest base atttack speed in the game with a value of 0.694 attacks per second. The way bonus attack speed from items, buffs and attack speed per level works is that it takes a percentage of that base attack speed and adds it on top. So if we have an Akali that has 50% bonus attack speed from items and levels, she could dish out a total of 1.041 attacks per second because 0.694 times 150% equals 1.041.
But if you are anything like me all that math above seems a little tedious to do in game and is only really fun when you're theorycrafting builds. So what I'd like to suggest to Rito for the sake of Clarity is that besides the percentage value the attack speed item shows you, it should also show you the actual attacks per second value right next to it in brackets. So if you are Akali and you're looking at a Phantom Dancer, It shouldn't just list 45% attack speed as a stat but should show something along the lines of 45% ( 0.3123 ) attack speed. Just makes it all easier to assess in game what your items actually give you.
