Objective control

I have noticed an uprising in tunnel visioned reactive play. Very few times am I matched with a teammate in ranked that actually tries to control the ebb and flow of the game, rather than being the enemy teams little bitch on a leash and goes wherever they go. So lets lay out some guidelines!

CAUTION: WORD WALL AHEAD

If the enemy team is completing an objective, you have some thinking to do.

  1. How important is this objective?

  2. If I contest said objective, will it go well for me? What will I potentially gain or lose?

Your answer to these 2 questions will define a GOOD PORTION ( not all ) of how well your game goes. After all, no matter how many kills or CS you have accumulated, you don't win unless the enemy nexus is destroyed.

If the objective is important enough, you should attempt to control it at all costs ( Baron, depending on the situation Inhibitors, oh yeah and YOUR FUCKING NEXUS. ) Understand however that if you were not successful, you just gave the enemy team even more of an advantage than they would have had if you hadn't devoted your time to it.

So, if the objective was not important enough for you to change what you were doing at the time, or there is no way you can fight them for it, what do you do next? Trade advantages!

Examples:

Your opposing jungler ganked top lane? Now is a great time to do dragon, take a buff, tower, or even gank another lane. But running up there from bot lane to avenge your fallen teammate is probably not the best use of your time.

Bot lane and jungle just died and the enemy team is doing dragon? If youre mid, you could always try for your mid tower, or kill the enemy laner if they arent at dragon, but make sure not to die yourself if they rotate mid afterwards. Top lane probably shouldnt teleport to try and contest either if it wont work well. Do the same thing that mid is doing.

Also while this is a good idea to do, again, its much better you just let them do the objective than you giving kills in the process, unless of course its something like a team baron rotation for the steal or of course your nexus.

The enemy team is taking your tier 3 tower and maybe inhibitor? Rather than jumping into their team, the top laner for example, or any other champ with teleport or the capability to get there quickly, trade towers or inhibitors. Obviously this wont be worth it ( most likely ) if you are starting at a tier 1 tower, but maybe you can.

Anyhow those are a few of my thoughts on objective control. Good luck out there fellow summoners!
