How do you do ADC?

Seriously, I've come to a point where I feel like the game just doesn't want me to ever be marginally good at this role. Everything always seems bigger. Like the enemy support just always looks way too tanky for us handle, or I'm messing up the engage because I derped or everything just seeming way better than I am. Seriously? How do you do this?

I can CS relatively good, at least 70 by 10 minutes, I can at least make favourable trades with my support backing me up and even if they all in, my support is usually good to the point that they can stop it. It just seems like no matter what I do there is no getting better at this because one way or another I always end up being a liability or getting carried instead and it sucks.

Here is a video that will take about an hour of your time. This video goes fairly in depth about the adc role. How to farm, how to harrass, how to team fight, how/what to expect from your support, what your support should expect from you, etc. If you want some credibility as to why you should spend an hour of your life watching this video, the dude that made this series ended up getting an internship at riot :P

Keep in mind, the series is a bit old. So some things are outdated like the odd item he'll mention that doesn't exist anymore, or the champion skill that's been reworked and doesn't work how he says. The key things you'll take away from any video in the series is the core mechanics.

If you decide to watch it, at the very least take mental notes on things you know you don't do or can improve on either in frequency or consistency. Writing things down would be better, or revisiting sections later. Don't try and master everything you see in your next game. That's a mental concentration overload. Isolate one to three things you REALLY feel is your weakness, and work on those things. Still be aware of what you aren't going to concentrate on yet. nothing says you can't try to improve everything else at the same time, just keep in mind that those are not your current goal, so don't beat yourself up when you screw them up. And don't let it take away from your current goals. You'll come back to it later and really work on it then. When you're comfortable with those few things you chose, look at your notes. pick something else and revisit that section of the video. work on a few more while still maintaining the initial set of improvements.

My best tip to you would be to stay behind your team at all times. Even if you aren't getting kills, It's better than dying. Stay behind your team, and when you don't have a team around you taking Wards and Blue trinket is really effective for staying safe. The biggest mistake I see most new ADC players make is that they don't realize how insanely squishy ADCs are. AD builds unlike AP builds very rarely have a noticeable amount of tank stats. Most common AP builds have a number of items that give Health, Armor, or Magic resist while almost the entire average ADC build has nothing but damage stats on it aside from maybe Guardian Angel.

Stay behind your team. Make sure you're always warding. If you have a good team who knows how to ward, take blue trinket. If your team isn't the best at warding, upgrade your ward trinket.

What champions do you play? I'm an ADC main (diversifying, though) and I might be able to give you some champ-specific tips.

You got a the cs part down so my advice is just to poke.... it doesnt have to be a whole trade it can just be a small auto on the enemy adc and i promise you it will make the differnce. also watch the pro players on how to position yourself in team fights and always use your ult .....

Something that has really helped me is playing with my buddy that is a support main. People who main support tend to have a really good idea about where you should be in a team fight. Be open to all advice that you are given.

Also don't be afraid to have a few bad games. If you're playing in normals try playing real aggressive or passive. Try different build paths. Sure you might have some people rage at you for being "Worst ADC NA", but you know you're learning so just ignore them.

Finally, I would suggest trying to learn a lot about your matchups. If you're in a lane against a blitz, morgana, or thresh you know that your positioning needs to be really good and a pick like sivir Sivir would be really good cause she has spell shield. As someone stated already vision is really important also so don't leave that job to just your support. Buy a few wards and be sure to upgrade your trinket. If you're playing against a champ that can go invisible just try to freeze the lane or let the other team push.

play tristana, easiest and very powerful
