Tips for pushing through brozen and silver!
Currently I am a silver three jungler. This is the highest I have ever been since the new ranked league system. All my previous attempts to climb the ranked ladder have fallen short and were rife with frustration. I’ve given up, I’ve trolled and ultimately I put league down for an entire year. What was I doing wrong then that I’m not doing now? _Glad you asked. _
Bronze and silver, as I have found out, is 80% mental and only 20% physical. Outplaying is very minimal at this level of play unless you encounter the ever popular diamond/plat smurf. Ultimately though, two genuinely silver players (or bronze for that matter) don’t yet have the capacity to pull of that epic fake out – which is typically the only way that higher level players can get the edge over their equally as skilled counterparts. So who wins that fight between two silvers when counter picking is hardly prevalent at this level and the champion pool is remarkably shallow?
** The individual that wins in silver is the person that is willing to fight.**
One of the biggest mistakes bronze and silver players make is that they run too often. Trading is a very precarious process but it’s absolutely essential to putting yourself in an advantageous position. A lot of lower players don’t understand the process of trading and it usually results in taking a lot of damage while dealing none in return, which often results in one person dominating the lane and the other player not having enough health to contest which makes them miss out on farm and other trading opportunities.

Another important aspect is keeping your teammates off tilt.
I can’t tell you how many games I’ve saved with just a few words:
“It’s all good, we still got this.”
Keeping you teammate willing to engage and defend is much better than them fuming then idling in the fountain. It’s remarkably easy to do too, just encourage them past their mistakes. Sure, this person may have made a play you wouldn’t, but whatever. What’s done is done, it’s how you handle it after the fact that makes all the difference. Navigating conversation and getting along with people is pivotal to managing games and keeping your crew in it. Comebacks only happen when everyone still thinks they have a chance. Don’t get me wrong, I do get frustrated, but I handle it a bit differently than the stereotypically toxic players you see in silver. Instead of getting mad, I just offer some advice.
- “That was good, you almost had them. Just wait for me next time and we got it.”
- “I can peel for you next fight if you let me stand in front.”
- “You’re too important to be out front. We need you behind the tanks.”
I know it sounds silly, but it really works. It’s reassuring and after a couple dozen games of people threatening to go afk, the guy that is offering to help you win just sounds that much better. Now, you can’t please everyone and some people are going to be rude regardless of what you say or do. If you encounter a particularly nasty people, just block them and advise your team to do the same.

Last, but certainly not least. Have fun.
I used to have the audacity to call my time in ranked,** the ranked grind**. The game was a task for me instead of what it was supposed to be. A game. The second you stop having fun is the second you lose more than just your time and patience. League is awesome and there are so many way to keep it fresh. Me, I like to jungle a variety of champs the rotate out my favorites. I also like discovering just as powerful variants to whatever the current trend is. (Pssst, Sated Vi) Sure, this tactic doesn’t just apply to ranked, but it’s important because having fun keeps your spirits up after a hard loss in promos or a demotion.
I really enjoy doing helpful write ups, so if you guys want more tips from my barely decent self, I’d be more than willing to share. Next I will explore some of the basic physical necessity for pulling yourself through bronze/silver!
