What Do You Do When Your Teammate Wants To AFK After Losing A Fight?
I have too many games where that happens.
I have too many games where that happens.
Make fun of them for being weak and ask if they want mommy to spoon feed them LP.
Seriously though, if anyone on your team starts to QQ, wants to AFK or wants to surrender because they're doing bad tell them they need to get that idea out of their head because we are going to win this game. The only thing keeping them from winning is their attitude. Winning games comes down to organizing your team, looking out for your teammates and prioritizing objectives. It is as simple as that and if you can bring that whiny teammate on board to do those things, I guarantee you'll start to see the match open up and see the big Victory right around the corner. I mean they don't even have to be good at the game. They could be the worst of the worst, but if they listen to pings, help ward and stick together then at least they aren't a liability and that is what matters most.
With that said, sometimes your team just doesn't have what it takes, you couldn't do it all on your own. If you really want better chances winning games, you need to DuoQ. One of you needs to be some kind of solo-lane carry like Xerath or Brand and one of you needs to be a split-pushing, team fighting tank like Sion or Maokai. Your carry needs to siege and your tank needs to add pressure to the map and focus on peeling, not initiating, during team fights and skirmishes. The better team will prioritize protecting their teammates over killing the enemy and that is something most people in SoloQ do not fully understand, so you need to take it upon yourself to do exactly that.
It is obviously a lot more complicated than that, but for the most part, those are the basics. If you are able to become a force to be reckoned with in the match, stay positive and reward your teammates for their good plays, then your teammates are more likely to listen to you. Don't first pick into a bottom lane role either. It's too risky because you are too dependent on the rest of your team to carry you into a position to carry the game.
One option is to try to impress upon them the need to master playing under a deficient, trying to come-back and learning to win via objectives. Some people need to just learn how to play defensive and by quitting he will not get the well rounded range of skills needed to truly compete. Nor will he gain much sense of accomplishment in the long run if he only plays pre-won games. Of course you'd have to find a more succinct way to get this across while playing, which would largely depend on your skills and methods as well as their openness.
Good luck, happy killing!
A quick fix that I found sometimes work is to ask them if they've ever lost a game where they thought they were ahead, and then say that this time, that will happen to the enemy team.
