Advice For Daily Improvement in Low Elos.

Hello everyone! Recently I achieved Silver in my first season here at League. I know It's not a high ELO by any means, but I can guarantee you that will change soon. Any who, I figured I would share what I have learned so far in my journey to rank up. At the end of the day our skill and improvement in this game or even in real life always comes down to knowledge. What you know and how you apply it.

If you truly want to improve, here are three things you need to practice improving overall. These 3 things are extremely important every second of the game. Never forget them.

  1. Your awareness - Locations, timing, your own position, etc.
  2. Knowing the Priorities - What needs to be done. Knowing what the next major objective is, or even what you personally need to do.
  3. Execution - How you take action to complete your next goal. This means actually planning your next action.

So here is my advice for low ELO players in which I will give you some questions I believe you should be asking yourself along with a response.

Soooo before you even click the Ranked Solo/Duo game button and join a game, have you asked yourself:

Have I read the recent updates? If there is one thing about league that most of us love, it is that League is always changing. These changes consistently affect game play, which means you need to learn how to constantly adapt. Make sure you are always caught up with the most recent updates, this way there are no big surprises when you're finally in game.

Have I played each role in the game? You should definitely play every role in the game enough to at least fill. Doing this allows you to have far better synergy with your team. This also helps with better role play in team fights.

Do I fully understand the objectives and the order of importance? To win the game, what do you need to destroy? The enemy Nexus correct? What’s the first object that directly blocks you from doing this? The turrets correct? You do not have to always kill enemy champions to destroy these turrets, but of course if they get in the way…. they are to be dealt with... :) The Dragon and Baron are side objectives used to aide you in winning the game. This does not in any way mean they are REQUIRED to win the game. Remember what your true Objective is!

^This one personally frustrates me the most. The majority of players in my ELO swear that you must kill the most dragons to win the game and will straight up rush it regardless of what position the team is in. 1 or 2 towers easily trumps getting a dragon, especially if it's an early game dragon. For one, the Dragon re-spawns whereas the enemy turrets do not. Secondly, the Dragon does not* directly impact your success in destroying the enemy Nexus while the turrets do. Baron is a different story as its buff also buffs minions which means you can take down turrets twice as fast. I'm not saying dragon and baron aren't important and cant help you win games but the dragon for sure should never be your top priority. We have all won games with out having the most dragon buffs, or getting barons buffs.

Next, after you click Ranked Solo/Duo draft game, and then accept a match…

**How important is the pre-game(Draft Pick) part is? ** This part of the game can actually make or break you and your team. Your team composition determines how you and your team need to work together to achieve victory, along with your strengths and weakness'. Do you have mobility? Do you have a Tank/bruiser? Do have burst damage in addition to the adc? Do you have Crowd Control (CC) for team fights. Do you have a good mixture of AP and AD champions? Do you have early game or late game champions? All of these are extremely important when developing your team. So you should definitely know how to play multiple champions well.

**Do I communicate well with the other players in the lobby that are about to be my teammates? ** Tell your teammates what is/are your preferred role(s). Tell them the role you least like. Tell them what champions you might you play in this role. Talking to your teammates about these things help you and your team better build a strong team composition. This also helps your teammates feel more comfortable, which means more confidence and better play.

Do I still choose my main champion even if I have no idea who my lane opponent is going to be? This makes it easier for your opponent to counter you, which in turn can cost you the game if they know how to snowball. I suggest you have a few champions that are safe picks, like Jayce who has no really does not have a hard counter. But If you do plan to do this, ask the Captain who is banning to ban a champion(s) that may hard counter you. For example, I want to play Nasus, so I then ask for Darius to be one of the bans.

Do I yield to my teammates main roles and champions to help better the team composition? If three people want to play mid yet no one is a decent jungler and you know how, you should fill that position. This way you don’t have a player who has no idea what they are doing, who then ends up feeding the opposing team. This is another reason to why I highly suggest you play every position in League. Doing so will benefit not only you, but your teammates. More wins for you!

**How often do I compare my teams composition vs the enemy team? ** After the last pick, you should have an idea of what type of team you are playing against. Take a good look at the enemy team and decide how you are to build your champion in response to not only your lane opponent (If known) but the entire team. Decide on how to capitalize on their weakness’. Talk to your team about your thoughts!

Now…. Now we start the fun part. You’re in game.

Am I constantly aware while in game? You want to be aware of as much as possible at all times during the game. Enemy locations (wards), enemy champion builds, how far along the enemy champions are, the times on the Dragon and Baron buff, what lanes need to be pushed, so on and so forth. Watch the map as much as you can so you always have an Idea where the enemy champions might be, in case of a late MIA. Know where you team is at in response to these little factors. Remember that knowledge is key.

What needs to be done? This all goes back to awareness and this is the first step to actually responding. Look at what your team can do as a whole, or make plans with your team to determine the next step. Should our team split push a specific lane while the rest of the team pressures another? There are so many factors to be determined here, but remember that getting to the enemy nexus comes first and not killing enemy champions.

How is my team and I going to complete our next specific objective? The last question you should be asking yourself right before you actually begin to take action. You can be the most aware player in the game, but if you can’t complete objectives by taking the proper actions, it won’t matter. And of course take action with caution. Plan for flawless success, yet know you can fail, and think about how your going to respond to that failure.

So there you have it everyone! Learn as much as you can, and practice taking the proper steps every game. YOU, yes you.. can single handedly carry every game. Even if you lose, it just means you couldn't carry your team well enough. Maybe you died in a teamfight? Maybe you were ganked pushing a lane? There are to many factors to list, but I encourage you to learn them and then master how to deal with these situations/factors.

The idea is to practically baby your teammates, even if you end up with the most assists on the team, you were the only player to place wards, the only player that talked , and then still ended up with a negative KDA. YOU carried the game. If you didn't assist in kills, your teammates may have been killed, if you didn't place wards you would have never been able to warn your teammate about a ganks, if you didn't speak, your teammates may not have known what to do next. This is why players in higher ELOs can always carry players in lower ELOs. These players are far more aware, and know exactly what needs to be done in certain situations and respond as needed.

I myself am still learning what to stay aware of and how to respond to it, but that’s where experience comes into play.
Thanks for reading! Feedback is always appreciated!

I still cant figure out how to add pictures on here though..? Any help? And I still need to edit this.

how do I support a win with a top laner (for example) is going 2-9 and has fed darius to death ? These are the times I usually lose, rarely do I lose a game and its my fault partially. I have (many times) been going even in my lane while 2 other players on the team have failed to sustain their own turret or jungler is getting wacked hard...
