I Seriously Want To Play League At A Pro Level

As the title says, I know that every body wants to go pro at League of Legends. My mom always told me that gaming was so stupid, useless, wasteful, terrible for you, and even after all that I'm going down in friends because they're "Cool" now. I honestly just want to be with people i belong and prove everyone wrong that gaming is not useless and wasteful etc. I want to go pro and play for my favorite team "Curse." I'm currently Silver 2 and I'm 13 years old so i still got a lot of time to master this game before i need to get a job etc. So i would love to get tips and tricks that will better my play out a lot. After all, silver 2 is better then like 60% of the community. I would be so grateful if someone would give me some tactics that can better my play my goal for this season is Gold, or Platinum. Thank You if you left a tip or trick :) Zed

Concentrate on school and make League and gaming into a Hobby, not a career path. Unless you think living with your mother at 20-30 is cool....

alright champ, time to give yo something to think about first of all, you need to get to challenger yup, all pros either have a million diamond 1 smurfs or challenger smurf you are more likely to be recruited by a pro team

now heres the problem with what you are asking and why it wont help you get to where you need to be you are looking for tips and tricks... thats it? thats so vague and general anything I can tell you or anything thing else anyone else will tell you like dont rage, take breaks, ward shit, be nice You are a silver scrub lord now, you should KNOW all the vague general tips

do you know know why you are better now than when you first started the game? cuz you now know all the general shit now, and it wont take you very far but why arent you diamond yet? you know all the general stuff they know, thaaats simple

you can ward, but they are better at it you can secure objectives, but they are better at it you can last hit, but they are better at it you got the map awareness, but they are better at it these guys at the top have EXPERIENCE and they know the SPECIFICS

shit we cant tell you all the specifics, there are so many variables when to, how to, do you, split second decisions variables they have learned to account for from experience

by the way.. Curse Academy is a thing and you can probably pick up the specifics there... also uuh, dont go pro lol

1 You have to be 17 to play professionally. 2 You have a better chance at making it as a pro athlete than a pro gamer, statistically. 3 Silver is more accurately the bottom 50%.

First, if you want to be pro, the goal shouldn't be "be pro" - you should strive to be the best in the world.

Interestingly, if you want to be the best in the world at something, no matter what it is, there's a common set of skills that the best of the best have. Find out what they are and start doing those things.

The younger you start the better.

I recommend you find a copy of Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill - it's an old book that's not really about money, it's about the qualities successful people have.

If you've really got a passion for league of legends, go for it, that's what life's all about - it's about doing things that you're passionate about. It's not going to be easy, and there's no guarantees, but if your heart's telling you to do it, it's worth doing.

:)

Passion is great, sure. As a recent college graduate, I'd rather work doing something I'm less passionate about (not something I hate) and make more money. Being a pro LoLer means doing something almost entirely for passion, which probably doesn't pay off unless you're Faker or the eSports scene gains popularity.

If you want to eventually go pro you should start practicing and not just playing. Work on map awareness, last hitting, mechanics, and have a positive mindset every game. Getting advice/lessons from a high ELO amateur or semi-pro player would probably help considerably.

Make sure you're making an informed decision before you puts all your eggs in one basket. You'll be better off financially if you go to college and get a job. If you want to go pro you'll work much longer hours for less pay - and you won't be able to have other responsibilities. You're young so that probably isn't a priority for you, but when you get older a member of the opposite gender may change your mind. Understand different options and what each entails.

What I would do if I were you is keep climbing solo queue, get to high platinum/low diamond, join a ranked team, play some amateur tournaments and continue climbing solo queue. Nowadays there are collegiate scholarships for LoL. When/If you go to college, look for these scholarships so that you can continue to practice league and work towards your dream while still having a plan B. If you can't find success with LoL after graduating college, I would give up trying to go pro. But that's 8 years away for you.

Trust me, go to College and you will make a lot more money then a pro-gamer would ever hope for...

Edit: And a lot steadier income....

My opinion is likely going to be less than helpful because (A) I am only Platinum, (B) I main support, and (C) I'm terrible with words, but here are my thoughts on early and easy improvement:

  1. Appeasement. Yeah, sure, it doesn't work in war time situations (see Hitler), but in League it goes a long way. Make your team happy, even if they are doing terrible, terrible things. Compliment + advice goes a long, long, way, even if it is simple and short. That + compromise is a beautiful thing.

  2. Muting. I always think this is a last case scenario type response to teammates, but if someone isn't being constructive or spammy, just mute them. But make sure you are doing it because it is diverting your focus, not just because they are annoying - after all, communication is key at least to platinum.

  3. Know the game, know the champions. Look, there are 110+ champions. That's a lot of details to learn. However, the more you play, the more you try, the more you start to pick up, even inadvertently. Cast times, cds, etc are all great to know - and I don't mean like, can recite back to me, but can feel it. You see that blitz pull and miss, know about how long you have to harass him before you're back in screwsville.

  4. Vision. Holy fack vision. If there is one thing that got me through gold, like just one thing, it was vision. As a support, I went sightstone + pink at all chances, making it so I could have at least three wards down at once at all times. And get your team to help out, any way you can. Like in point (1), make it seem super advantageous for them so they will do it (because, in case you haven't noticed, no one seems to get wards are just advantageous on their own anyway).

  5. Find the good player on your team, the one solid player, and be his best friend. Not everyone is always on their best behavior or skill game to game, but there is always one person who is just on fire. Find him. Do anything for him. This is especially easy as a support because I can file it under "roaming" and my adc doesn't care. But like, the fact of the matter is one person can indeed carry an entire game, especially if they have an assistant doing whatever they can for them. Oops you went 1/3 in mid already? F that, go top ward up for him, and sit on the other top laner's head if you have to. Boost that guy so he can boost you.

  6. Objectives over kills. And to get objectives, you need to get picks, split push, or teamfight well...which all require (4). Look, you may think your team is a bunch of idiots who you can't even believe they figured out how to turn on their computer, let alone hit the play button, but at the end of the day they got where they are and have some idea of what to do - so help them get as many objectives, anywhere on the map, that you can. Also, dragon is now stupid strong. Watch it like a hawk and rotate into it accordingly.

  7. Don't be toxic. This is a big one, and yet...so simple. Don't be toxic. If you do it once, it will become a pattern. I don't care how mad you are, how badly they are throwing, how badly you did in lane, how well the other team's jungle did....being toxic literally helps you in 0 ways. "Oh well, it is a loss anyway, might as well tell them how I really feel" no man, no. Get out a pen and paper and write down your feels, then get back to work. The only person that can make your experience good is you, even if that experience is directly influenced by the people you are queued with.

  8. Get the system. And get that it is flawed. Mathematically, this entire ranking system is just poor. You don't get paired with people with your ranking, no no, you get paired with people who have the same hidden MMR as you that way the game is semi "balanced" (and helps place you higher or lower quicker). It is a ranking system that determines your worth based on how you interact with 9 other individuals game after game after game...and not even personally, it just is based on whether or not you win. Accept that this is stupid and unfair, if you can you will improve greatly. The fact of the matter is that if you want to get a high ranking quickly, you need to find the one thing Riot has yet to balance but no one seems to get is an issue yet. That one little detail to give you a lead. I didn't do it this way, but I have at least three friends who abused the lack of Riot intervention and instantly went from low gold to diamond in the past 2 seasons.

  9. Set a limit. My friend and I have been theorycrafting on how several games in a row effects the mind and feels - let's be honest, once you lose, even if you did really well, that is now logged on your current feels. I don't care if you reserved 10 hours for ranked play, if you start to tilt you're going to wish you spent that time smacking your face on your desk instead. The said "friend" plays until he loses a game, I play until I lose 2 consecutively. To each their own, but I know I can't continue normally after two losses.

  10. Communicate the F out of champion select. Look, I get people hate the chatter, but seriously the faster you can figure out champion select details the faster you get to start thinking through choices and picks. If we all spent a little less time fighting over why TIM63 got to get mid because he was first pick, even though Jimm786 called it and said he could only play mid, and more time coherently working as a team....think of the possibilities. Which leads onto....

  11. Synergies and counters. Look, for all intents and purposes these are worthless, even at pro play level. At the end of the day the better player will rise to the occasion and win. BUT, it sure helps to know what is going on in this game. And that can happen in (10). Oh look, first pick those Yasuo. Is there a choice for my role that I can play safely and just as well as what I was going to choose that has some sort of knock up for Yasuo? Oh look they instalocked Fizz first pick on the opposite team, I should probably avoid Orianna. Oh look they first picked Katarina, do I have a good roaming champion or something that can keep her in mid? My team has chosen 4 carries for every other role, and the opposing team has three tanks....is there something I can pick that can both be tanky and peel for my carries? These things matter, even if only slightly.

  12. And this probably isnt even a point so much as closing remarks, BUT remember - treat other players how you want to be treated. I know that seems really, really, simple, but at the end of the day a single game isn't going to ruin your ranking or ultimate placement, but being a terrible person will! Your team wants to win as much as you do, if not more, even if they dont seem like they do when they engage 1v5 at the nexus. Your job is to do the best you can do with the conditions you're given, even if those conditions are subpar. Keep at it and soon you'll be giving me tips.
