Let's talk about Akali...

You notice Akali made it through picks and bans, you think you're going to pick her up and before you notice you aren't drafting first, the other guy instant locks Akali. You then try to counter her with Annie, which you played only but once, and end up going 0/5 10 minutes in.

Yes, Akali is one of the harder Champs to play against, and I have fed her before, but there are ways to slow her down or even turn the lane in your favor, which of course, is why I am here today.

How to counter Akali by me.

  1. Hard CC; for ranked there is a simple rule I like to follow, have a heavy cc champion for each role, Gnar Top, Jarvan Jungle, Lux Mid, Vayne ADC, Nami support. Now those are just some examples of Champions with heavy CC, I still suggest you master one champion with heavy CC, and when the lane picks Akali you pick into that with your champion of CC.

1B. Why CC works: Simple reason, her ultimate. If she jumps to you, lock her up with stuns, or snares. This prevents her from using her combo if you can get back, but it also allows you to do A TON of damage, and depending on your build, you could even kill her.

  1. AoE; AoE counters Akali by zoning her off, preventing her to jump to you, or using her combo, now this method of counter is dangerous, specially if you're squishy, getting too close to her will almost always lead you to death.

  2. Tanks; Tanks alone (except Nasus) can't counter Akali, but if the tank has any of the above, and Akali rushes him, he can lock Akali in place and help carries get the kill.

  3. Shut her down early: Akali is extremely weak early, and if you can deny her farm, or kill her pre 6, gaining the control of the lane, that weakens Akali's power mid game and early late game.

  4. All of above: Sure 1 of these things is great, but if you get all mentioned I can almost {champion:86}} -tee that Akali won't be doing anything. Just remember when trying to counter Akali, don't make your whole comp just on countering the Akali, one to two players at most.

That's all I got for this time good luck on Summoner's Rift!

Changing your entire team composition to deal with one enemy champion is not countering them. When you make a huge change in playstyle or item/team composition they can use that to their advantage and gain more damage, armor, etc. Akali is sort of a midway champion before she is fed. She will have trouble 100-0 you in one burst, so she'll burst, use smokescreen, and try again if you're dumb enough to stick around. Burst her, retreat, and initiate again only if you're not at the disadvantage.

Buy a pink ward or a the now super cheap trinket and shes ruined. build any mr with it and you might as well be free farming + the occasional free Akali kill. Akali is really weak right now.
