Boss's Challenge * /r/leagueoflegends

HELP ME KEEP MY JOB PLEASE A little back info on me: I've never streamed until today so there's a lot to be learned. I haven't played league since season 1 (nor any PC games) so my hands and keyboard have a lot of catching up to do, also I'm leveling a new account as I can't recover my original So earlier today my boss comes over (I work construction and I've known this guy since i was 17) and starts squawking about how his son is going to college to play "League of Legends" for a scholarship. Kept going on and on about how good his kid was and how easy its going to be for him to make big money. Through all the bs, he mentioned his kid achieving Platinum and being in the top 1% of the US. So after he left I felt the urge to research further, because something just didn't smell right. I knew in season 1 there was a mmr system, but I wasn't aware of how it had changed, or the creation of diamond/master/challenger tiers. Come to find out his son wasn't even in the top 5 or even 10%. So i felt inclined to call him and explain to him how his son may have altered a few of the details. And explain to him how much time the pros have dedicated over the last 3 years to perfect their craft. Whatever his son put in front of him must have blown his mind, because he became offended and couldn't believe I would doubt his son. There was several minutes of angry banter and slander(didn't realize how big of a deal this was) So I tried explaining to him how I had a little backround with the game, and that's when it happened. He cut me off mid sentence, laughing, and said "well then how about this big shot, don't bother comming to work for the next month. I'll make my son take your place on the job, and you can show me how easy it is to hit my sons rank" So I do apologize for the paragraph, but I'm here seeking feedback on my play from anyone/everyone. feel free to tell me how bad I am along the way, just please make sure to point out why. feel free to pass the link along to all your pro/troll friends. Or add me in game to play. Thank you and Happy Holidays reddit http://www.twitch.tv/FA_Redeye IGN FA Redeye

Nice. Happy to help with some pointers (both with streaming and gameplay). I stream nightly after 10pm EST if you want to ask then and get real time answers:

Stream http://twitch.tv/gundaymonday

Since you only have a month, I would focus on one role. ADC is probably the easiest to learn/rise with since you can apply a lot of what you learn to other ADC champions (stuff like positioning, last hitting, itemization). Highly recommend picking ~3 ADCs to learn like Caitlyn Vayne Jinx Ezreal Lucian and stick to those exclusively. Also easy to rise up with ADCs VERY quickly just by focusing on CS. There are some fairly simple exercises to do that here: http://imgur.com/orWUCKH

Other thoughts, don't stream while you try to rise up. Seems like this is a publicity stunt and probably not a real bet, but streaming makes you play significantly worse. A number of reasons for this. Your computer is working harder to play the game and do the streaming stuff, and you will probably lag a little more. Your attention will be split between your chat, the stream, and the game, versus just the game (this is huge in a game requiring map awareness like LOL). You can solve for this with $ for a super computer and a lot of practice, which may be hard to come by in less than a month.

Good luck though! Hope this helps and I'll drop by your stream to see how you're doing!

He's extremely misinformed.. Of 10,000,000 NA accounts there are 800,000 platinum players. Basically, if you lined up 100 LoL players, 8 of them would be platinum which is nothing special. (Percent wise, it'd be around ~6% http://www.lolsummoners.com/stats)

Platinum barely nets you a half scholarship in around 4-5 ? colleges in US right now, which once again is nothing special. My friend Joey received a full time job on a coaching site because he's had professional experience as a coach before, and is guaranteed a FULL scholarship. He turned the scholarship down, why? Schools that offer LoL scholarship probably expects something out of the players, just like if you are a football player wanting a scholarship for playing football i guess you are expected to play in the team? (I dont have experience, this is just his logical thinking). He doesn't want to spend hours on coaching random players for a school that probably won't give a good education versus going to a good school but needing loans or only getting half scholarship.

TL;DR Your friend is full of crap and his son isn't a prodigy so tell him to get off his high horse. EPIC NOTE: I'm willing to lend you a diamond account so you can shove it in your boss' face. The name is a bit inappropriate but if you'd like to change it (only costs like $10?) to something more better i'm willing to give it to you for that time. Naturally I'm going to have to send an official email to Riot to let them know about this post and I'm sure they understand if I say they aren't held responsible for damages.
