I have a few quesitons about Draven because I have heard different answers to these questions in different places:

Is Draven one of the strongest late game champs?

Is Draven a strong laner?

Does he fall off late game?

Is he a hyper carry?

*Note: For the last question, there will probably be different answers as the definition of hyper carry is extremely vague, but please give your opinion and reasoning.

Thanks for reading this post, and have a wonderful day!

Is Draven one of the strongest late game champs? Draven is strong in a 1v1 vs a squishy, but is vulnerable himself. He has the ability to crit an amazing amount depending on your build, maybe even enough to 2 shot most ADC's late game with full build.

Is Draven a strong laner? He's only as strong as the person who is playing him, anyone who falls off late will have a strong early or mid as compensation. He is weak vs champions that can easily kite him (Caitlyn) and is strong against champs who can't stand his amazing burst (Jinx).

Does he fall off late game? It honestly depends on who you are against, not just ADC but the whole enemy team. Generally he does, but if you get fed quick enough on him it will be hard to fall off because of how strong you are and how fast you can win.

Is he a hyper carry? He is not a hyper carry, he is a lane bully. He falls under the same category as lane winners like Graves or Caitlyn, both of which also are not hyper carries. Usually, hypercarries are weak early or mid but unstoppable and powerful late game (Tristana).

NOTE: Just because they are strong late doesn't make them a hyper carryEzreal

Draven was hit pretty hard by the health buffs, imo. His Q is designed to 3-4 shot people, which just isn't realistic anymore. He isn't particularly mobile, his ult isn't very good, he has low range, his Q is difficult to execute without putting yourself at big risk. If you win lane, he has a pretty good chase and can scale very well. Even though his Q gives him the highest damage in the game outside Kog, I wouldn't say his kit is hypercarry material anymore. The meta has definitely shifted outside of his favor.

The axe thing is still really fun though. He's a good niche pick. His disruption is very good against casters, Ezreal and Lucian. He's also good against champions that will try to just trade through AAs like Trist, because highest damage in game.

Hai im not a very good player but i do play plenty of draven so here is my answer to the first question

I find draven to be one of the stronger late game adcs but he is very easy to screw up during laning phase and mid game (mainly positioning and axes). The trade off is the huge amount of damage that he gains if you can play him right which is rather difficult to many people.

Another factor that i believe plays a huge part in this would be the build where the more traditional builds give him around 1300 to maybe 1500 crit whereas some more untraditional builds e.g. essence reaver + triforce gives him around 2.2k crit in the late game but requires a different play style where you are basically spamming w.

thats all i got. im sorry if this doesnt make sense as i am not a high elo player. best of luck

now i have only played draven twice so by no means am i an expert of him. i can tell its all in the way you play. if you are aggressive, but still smart for when to stop fighting and run, you will definitely win your lane even if ADC. My main is brand tho so I'm descent at skill shots and the first time playing him I did surprisingly well and managed a triple kill.

Hi! I have played a lot of Draven in my time. I would like to give my two cents on your questions and give you some advice.

Is Draven one of the strongest late game champs? Strictly numbers wise Draven probably has one of the strongest late game damage potentials. Building a generic ADC build his q passive will give him an extra 85% of his total damage. So if you have 350 damage, your spinning axe actually represents 647.5 damage. That is an intense amount of physical damage.

Is Draven a strong laner? Draven is a very strong laner as he is very good at out trading / harrassing enemies in lane when he has an axe spinning. Your e can also be used to disrupt abilities (such as leona's xenith or Xin Xao dash) as well as allowing you to land an extra auto attack on an enemy.

Does he fall off late game? I don't think Draven falls off late game as hard as people tend to make it sound. Draven does an immense amount of damage. Draven can generally 2-4 shot most squishy champions depending on crits. Draven can also kite backwards in team fights well with his spammable w speed and attack boost.

Is he a hyper carry? Draven is not typically considered a hyper carry. He is more considered a snowball champ due to his damage potential and gold granting passive. The typical hyper carry ADC's are Tristana, Twitch, Vayne, Jinx, and Kog Maw.

Draven Advice (just a little) Most of your questions revolve around Dravens power and damage potential. Draven's power fluctuates with his spinning axes. Mentioned earlier, 350 AD + 85% = 647.5 incoming damage. If you have an item 3031 and your auto crits, that's 647.5 * 2.5 = 1,618.75. I have easily 2 shot carries at the end of the game with 2 spinning axes and having one or both crit.

Spinning Axe (Q) is really powerful. Taking a percentage of your total AD and converting it to damage is pretty equivalent to free gold. If you have 100 AD, your level 1 q gives you 45% bonus damage, so 45 damage. That means whenever you have your q up you basically have a free bf sword worth of damage, which is around 1550 gold worth of free stats. So Draven with his q up is very gold efficient. On top of this gold efficiency, being able to get passive stacks and then get a kill will also net you extra gold. This is why Draven can snowball in power really hard.

Another big thing to remember is that Draven's damage comes in bursts. All of this extra power and gold efficiency comes from throwing spinning axes. This makes Draven very strong in certain situations. Play Draven to his strengths. Draven is very strong in 1v1's, pick comps, and especially against squishy champs. Also Draven doesn't have the longest of ranges, but once he has closed a gap you can use w's to kite and chase down targets. So you want to make sure to enter a fight appropriately.

Draven can carry a game incredibly hard if you play him well. Hopefully this isn't too rambly and is helpful!

Is Draven one of the strongest late game champs?

Not true. Draven can have a strong late game if he gets fed early and is able to build all his dmg items earlier but theres much better late game champions out there.

Is Draven a strong laner?

Yes, he is a lane bully and has very strong trades so if you play him, abuse his early game.

Does he fall off late game?

This question is counter intuitive to the 2 other questions you asked. Whether Draven falls off is more sitiuational. His dmg comes from his axes so if u cant maintain his axes, his dmg heavily drops. All of his dmg is flat physical dmg so if the enemy has alot of tanks that have alot of armor built up or have abilities that reduce attack speed, draven won't be able to do as much dmg late game. I personally believe that he doesn't fall off but if the enemy counters his dmg by stacking armor, he won't do as much dmg in the late game.

Is he a hyper carry?

No, his dps is way too low to be considered a hypercarry. Vayne, tristana, and kogmaw are the trinity of hypercarries because their dps is insane late game. Note that these 3 champions have an insane amount of attack speed in combination with dmg.

Is Draven one of the strongest late game champs?

As a Draven main, I can say he is. If you build Draven properly, he'll one shot any squishy champion late game, while his W spam will allow him to hit fast enough to sustain against any bruiser/tank.

Is Draven a strong laner?

Yes. But it depends on your support and the enemy lane comp. Any support with lots of CC or sustain pairs really well with Draven. I almost always lane with my friend who mains Nami as she has both excellent CC and heals. If she lands a Q, W, and throws her E on Draven, you can easily send the enemy home at lvl 3.

Laning can be difficult for Draven if he's up against a very pokey lane without a support that can handle it. Getting zoned hurts any ADC, but it can cripple Draven's early game with the stacks he's missing out on.

Does he fall off late game?

Oh God, no. The enemy Vayne is going to wonder why she's fallen off when you one shot her with a 2250 crit.

Is he a hyper carry?

Yes. Even if a Draven has a poor start, he gets incredibly strong late game. Again, it comes down to how you are with his axes and how you build him.

TOP SECRET DRAVEN BUILD

Your genuine interest in Draven makes me believe YOU could be the next Draven prodigy. Thus, I will now share with you the ULTIMATE Draven build. This is the late-game-hyper-carry-dunkmaster Draven build that few people know about.

item 3031 Standard first item on any ADC. Aim to have around 11-14 mins. item 3087 Wait, no boots or lifesteal yet? NO. This will give you all the movement and attack speed you need early game. The sparks also help boost Draven's burst damage. Essential for any true Draven player. item 3508 Still no boots? HECK NAW. Have you ever thrown a stand aside as Draven and wondered why you have 0 mana? Have you ever tried blood rush spamming to find out you're out of mana before you can even cast it a second time? That's because Draven is missing his #1 most important core item. This item essentially gives Draven a free blue buff with damage and lifesteal. You can spam blood rush to your heart's content with this badboy. Never have mana problems ever again. item 3035 But what about boots? SHUT UP. At this point you're hitting people for 1000 damage. Armor pen is essential to make sure as much of that hits as possible. item 3078 But... Boots? NO, BECAUSE TRI FORCE GIVES US TONS OF DAMAGE. As well as movement speed. As well as a movement speed buff when you attack. This is the item that lets Draven really start chasing and kiting enemy champions. You will see a massive power spike when you buy this item. This is what I consider to be late game Draven. item 3072 WHAT? A BLOODTHIRSTER AND STILL NO BOOTS? No way man. This is it. The secret to Draven's late game. You're looking at 500+ AD on Draven at this point. With 30% lifesteal (40 with elixer). Every crit heals Draven for half of his health.

But your build is retarded. You don't have boots. WRONG. You get enough movement speed from item 3078 item 3087 as well as the Dragon movement speed buff (usually ~400 movement speed with full build). By not getting boots, you're able to add the necessary damage for Draven to carry late game. To one shot any squishy. To essentially 1v5.

There are two very major tips to playing Draven with this build:

  1. Catching axes for blood rush spam is ESSENTIAL. When you're in a teamfight, the best possible place for Draven to be is standing still, next to a wall, in auto attack range of a few enemies but still far enough back from the enemy. Instead of moving around and controlling Draven's axes, you can use their behavior to your advantage. If you stand still, they'll usually fall on you 30-50% of the time. If you stand still next to a wall, you minimize the places for the axes to land and increase the chance of them landing on you. This makes it extremely easy to get 3 axes going at once (you can only HOLD two, but you can have as many in the air as you can spam). Obviously this won't apply in all fights as you might have to chase after people or the fight might not be close enough to a wall. But it's VERY handy if you've got a Voli scratching your face off or you're stuck in a Jarvan pit.

  2. Learn the top secret Dragon and Baron axe spots. On the edge of the opening of each pit, you can kind of nestle Draven into the wall and every single one of your axes will fall underneath you 100% of the time. It can be difficult to find the spot sometimes. But oh man, is it ever nice to be able to melt Dragon and Baron in a few seconds.

I feel you have the potential, man. To become the next great Draven player. Use this build and knowledge wisely. And always remember:

It's not Draven , it's Draven Draven Draven Draven Draven Draven
