Tips on how to get out of Bronze

I'm having issues as an ADC getting out of Bronze, I'm currently Bronze 4. I switched through ALL lanes and found that I'm decent as a Lucian main, and as a Rengar JG. I CS relatively well (I think), and do my best in team fights to get damage down. I flubbed my series due to miscommunications in one and a bad team member in both (I won 1/3). Are there any tips to get better and move up ?

so I watched your game from two days ago since there was a replay. here are some things you should work on from what I saw from that game:

  • csing: you cs was great. you missed a lot of easy cs when there wasn't any fighting.

  • taking free damage: annie would just Q you for free a few times in lane. you even got to the point you were really low and when thresh started fighting, you walked up to the other laners and insta died. a lot of the free damage you took was your positioning. a good example if you are looking for one is at 11:30. you were focusing on zed and you didn't see the annie.

  • dying needlessly: within 10 minutes, two deaths that were actually really easy to avoid. the first was that you walked up too close when you were too low. the other death was when you had no wards, saw yi, but decided to stay forwards since he disappeared from vision (and then he popped back up after a few seconds since he just walked around that hill).

if there is no vision, don't push up unless it's really worth the risk, and in a lot of cases, it's not. if you get to low, don't be afraid to just go b. it's better than dying and giving gold to someone on the other team.

at 17:40: zed kills you. before this, you took a few tower hits, a sivir Q and minion damage. you wouldn't have been so low and zed doesn't have too much damage so you could have lived here if you didn't take all of that damage. also, wait until zed's ult goes off and then dash so he doesn't follow where you end up.

at 22:20: your pathing. don't go into the dark since you can't see what's there. go the long safe way. at 25:40: don't get baited into bad fights. that was 2v3 and thresh died fairly fast so basically 1v3. you also lost double buffs because of that. you also didn't slow down there push and they take another tower. if you had walked around them and went to the next tower, you could have actually protected it.

the next death is fine since no one is expecting you to play pro or anything. you fought with you team and died, but you guys won the fight so it's not too bad.

at 30:30: go the safe way over the fast way again. you made yourself an easy pick and died fairly fast.

I'm just went over the main things that stood out. one last thing: upgrade your tricket once level 9 if you have 250 or once you get 250.

Btw, i am also bronze so listening to me may seem stupid, but i can't resist to anwer this.

Tip 1 : never blame yoir failure on others. If you made a stupid play, don't try to find blame on others but yourself.

Tip 2 : record your games if possible and gi back ant take a look at them. (That i don't do myself as i have no time for that)

Tip 3 : be polite when you request things from your teamates. Make sure you ask nicely as they have better odds of doing it.

Tip 4 : never, and i mean never engage in situations where your are outnumbered, even if you are confident enough that you can win, always wait for the whole team to start fights. Especially in late game, as your opponents build more items and the item discrepancy is smaller.

Tip 5 : learn your role, as an adc you never intiate yourself, never face check bushes. You will be chopped down if not killed and you will provide no help when the fight starts.

Tip 6 : have dragon control. This is why bot lane takes two players in case you ever wondered. Have a ward at dragon and make sure you have control of it.

Tip 7 : farm as best as you can. There is never enough. Watch the lcs and aim for no less than what they do. Game after game have marks. 10 minute mark, 20 minute mark,40 minute mark and so on. And make sure you do your best to be as close to that as possible.

Tip 8 : learn how to manipulate minion waves, learn when it's good to only last hit and keep the wave closer to your tower or if you need to hit it harder and push it towards enemy tower. If your jungler comes for a gank, freeze the wave so that it moves closer to your tower so your jungler has more room to work with.

Tip 9 : build accordingly. If you fight a tankier comp rush your last whisper (4 or 5 th item) if your fighting less tankier comp leave last whisper for last item. Always carry some lifesteal as it's your best shit at staying alive at extended fights. Also i wouldn't recoment infinity edge unless you are going to get another crit chance item to support it. An infinity edge by itself cant do much good for you.

Tip 10 : play all roles so that you can predict enemy locations, movements. More specifically play alot of jungle. This will make you understand it better and thus know when it's safe for you to over extend and when a gank is coming. Even without wards you will be able to predict incoming ganks.

Tip 11 : Never start fights with others in chat. Even if they are stupid dont type. More typing means less playing and you dont want that.

Tip 12 : DON'T BE AFRAID TO DODGE IN CHAMP SELECTION. This is the golden rule. Dodging does NOT affect your mmr which means it's ok to do it. If you see people trollpicking or flaming in chat before the game even starts, dodge. You lose little lp but you save your time and it's a 90% loss anyways.lose 5 lp instead of 15 + 35 minutes of your life seems a fair trade.

I am sure i can think of more tips, but it's not coming in my head right now. I hope this helps. I know im bronze too, hopefully by next season i won't be.

Your death rates seem a tad high for the kills that you are getting (as an ADC). your 30 to 40 minutes.

You seem to have only one build so you are not building as necessary but through formula. You also never include a Last Wishper.

I don't play ranked, but one thing I've heard helps is waiting five to ten minutes before requeing after a match with a teammate you're sure is terrible. If you waited a few minutes and they didn't, they'll already be in another game when you queue up so you won't be matched with them again.

Easiest thing to do. Upgrade your trinket. You will be a better warder then most gold or even plat. People for some reason simply dont understand how great that 250G investment is.

Never let your opponent get a CS without taking damage from you or your support, keep playing agressive every time he's going for a cs. DON'T LET HIM GET CS FOR FREE! If you do that well this will snowball into kills for you and it will get out of hand for them. Have fun on the road of improvement!summoner 31

This is how I climbed ranks from bronze 4 where I was placed (I'm now silver 3). It's a total grind. You just have to play over and over again until you make a lucky win streak.

I almost never win games when I'm duoing with someone, no matter how good/bad they are, I just lose when I duo.

I also played support so that I didn't have to rely on someone else to play support. You never want your team playing something they don't want, so I usually played support myself because I knew I was a good consistent support.

While climbing, I failed probably about 5 promotion series.

If you can play a role well consistently, play that role and you will make it out of bronze.

The most challenging thing about improving in LoL is separating the noise factors. You WILL lose games because of teammates, and you WILL lose games because of your own play. In extreme cases, you can lose solely because of one or the other. In most cases, losses are attributable to everybody on the team to differing degrees, including yourself. Picture a scale of -10 to 10:

-10: 2 of your teammates lose their internet connection for 30 minutes and one of your two remaining teammates feed. You're not winning these barring something similar on the other side, no matter how good you are. Don't worry about these. They happen and it sucks, but that's reality.

10: You chance into smurfs or just players having a good game. Your other two lanes win hard and 2-3 of your teammates are fed to hell, while your team as a whole understands objectives and how to press the lead. Unless you're trolling/throwing on purpose, you're going to win these even if you're 2-10-5 with bad cs.

Those are fringe cases. Stuff like that is why chain-afks still win on occasion or why elite players lose on occasion. Now, what about the overwhelming majority of games? Something like:

-3: Your bottom lane gets out-cs'd and loses turret, but they've traded kills with other bottom lane and are relatively even on gold. You're top, and your mid/jungle are about even.

In this case, if you play at the ability of average for your competition, you'll lose (but if your were on the other side top lane, you'd win. Confirmation bias leads us to over-remember these losses). But what if you win lane hard? What if you didn't get caught trying to ward in river and killed 1-2 times? What if you placed that skill shot a moment sooner and their ADC died instead of yours in the first fight for dragon you assisted? Depending on how you do, this game is winnable, and the good players win it.

So what do you need? Consistency of choices and execution. Nobody plays perfectly, but try to think about each choice you make and why. Think about why the things that led to you getting kills --> objectives worked. When you or your team dies, think about why that happened too. In each moment, you need to iron out the noise factors and figure out what you could have done differently that would have provided a stronger position for your team. Often, on an average-to-bad team an average player will complain about his team and be right, but also wrong because he himself left opportunities to win on the table. But you can't control your team unless you just run the game with friends and avoid ranked (which is a fun choice too).

You can control your own choices though. By far the most important skill you can gain is the ability to evaluate each choice you make, and the habit of doing it routinely. If you do that, you can correct mistakes and missed opportunities and improve. You still won't win all your games; even challenger players lose. But you will get better and you will win more of them against better opponents.

theres literally a billion things you could do i could help through coaching or just play easier champions and farm well

as long as you keep improving, you will keep climbing. find your mistakes and reduce them, that's one of the best things you can do for yourself to help yourself climb.

Shortest tip I can think of: Suck less.

Khazi65/14/2015, 3:43:20 AM1 votes

Play more aggressive as an ADC, as in try to make plays on your own instead of depending on someone else, which you can do on Lucian. For instance, when a skirmish breaks out like a 2v2 or 3v3 at dragon pit. The safest option for Adcs is to just attack anybody in front of them or on them (usually the enemy tank) in order to deal as much damage as possible. Well, as Lucian, it's risky but you could just ignore the enemy front like and try to take out the enemy backline's ADC or mid laner. It's very possible to do if you play it right but you must know when you use your E, dodge skill shots, and know how to kite.

  1. Ward more. Use pink wards. Imho, your 'wards placed' need to be at least in double digits; by double digits I mean like, 20+. of course this is coming from someone who wards a lot.
  2. Practice
  3. Don't rely on others to help you not die/
  4. Try not to initate as the ADC unless NO ONE WILL FUCKING GO IN, or you're in a dueling situation that you know you can win.
  5. PRAFctice
  6. Mute asshole players, they are not worth your time.
  7. okay shit, i'm way too tired to keep going. basically there's no miracle thing to make you climb. It's gonna take time and learning from your mistakes and luck.
