Elixir tips

So, every now and again I play ARAMs and a few custom games just to get my bearings on champions, especially if I haven't played them in a while. I know these might not work for some people, but nothing works for everybody. When it comes mid-game, one thing you'll probably want to do is pick up an Elixir, to enhance your gameplay. For those of you who don't already know about Elixirs or might need a run-down in case you've not given them notice, this is what they do; item 2137 Elixir of Ruin: Increases health and damage against turrets, and gives nearby minions the same damage boost against turrets and movement speed based on your own. Effect is an umber smoke. item 2140 Elixir of Wrath: Grants attack damage and heals you when you deal damage to enemy champions. Scoring kills or kill assists prolongs the duration. Effect is a crimson smoke. item 2139 Elixir of Sorcery: Increases ability power and mana regeneration, and makes attacks against enemy champions or turrets deal true damage. True damage has no cooldown on turrets. Effect is a blue smoke. item 2138 Elixir of Iron: Increases size, tenacity, and slow resistance, and gives you a trail of grey mist that your allies have increased movement speed through. Effect is size increase and grey misty trail. Now, I have two methods to decide which elixir I should use; Demand and Effect. Demand buying elixirs depends on the needs of the team and the enemy composition, and often best coincides with the role of the champion you're playing. If you're playing a brawler champion (someone who can buy tanky items mixed with attack damage items and be effective), and you need someone who can tear up buildings and scatter enemy attention, use Ruin. If you're a tank (Sion, Alistar, Shyvana, other such meatshields), buy Iron, as your team will /definitely/ need someone to soak up damage. If you're playing a marksman or a champion with multiple damaging abilities (using AD), buy Wrath. If you're a spellcaster or if your enemy team has tanky champions (and you use mana as a resource), buy Sorcery. One might question the use of that on an ADC - and, I'll tell you, I thought it was a stupid buy when I got it. I got it because of effect, but the true damage helps whittle away at tanky champion's health more easily. Effect buying elixirs depends on what champion you're playing and what skin you're using. Sometimes you won't have a champion/skin who would look good with any of the effects the Elixirs provide. As stated above, each Elixir has a unique visual effect when quaffed. Examples of Champion Skins that go well with Elixirs are as follows; Infernal Alistar/Iron, Soul Reaver Draven/Sorcery, Arclight Vel'Koz/Sorcery, Forsaken Jayce/Wrath, Blood Moon Thresh/Wrath, Scorched Earth Renekton/Ruin, Infernal Nasus/Iron, and so on. Buying based on Effect is not necessarily advised from a strategic standpoint, but in my eyes it's better to lose looking good than to just lose. Thank you for your time in reading!
