I never expect a gank

My lane is my own responsibility, whether I’m doing good or bad. I expect it to be 1v2 with the enemy jungler at any moment. It’s not my jungler’s fault or responsibility to make sure I do well.

If I do get a gank, I’m grateful, but never expect it.

I get tired of hearing people rage against their jungler if they are doing badly, or if they are getting ganked by the enemy jungler. Deal with it.

I don't expect ganks because I know I wont get them, they could have no summoners sitting under my tower with 5hp and I know im not going to get the junglers help. yes you shouldn't expect ganks but you should expect your jungler to do something if your not ganking lanes counter jungle, just dont sit there and farm then go back to base till your lvl 18 thats basicly having a afk.

I play mostly top lane so....................

Critmaster Garen4/12/2015, 2:29:15 PM9 votes

this is still a team game. and your lane is not a 1v1.

if i sacrifice cs and tank minions to freeze the lane at my turret and set my jungler who is close by up for a gank, and ask him to come around. yes, i tend to get upset when he doesnt.

that camp is not more important than helping your lanes win and gain map control. part of the junglers job is to seize opportunities and help his lanes win, and take turrets and objectives with them.

or next time you may want to do that dragon on your own, or deal with jungle invades yourself. even though i could have helped.

I never expect a gank (because I mostly play jungle and I know just how annoying the people who assume they deserve one are), but if I'm having a cruddy lane phase or I'm in a snowball matchup where I either need to get ahead to succeed or we need to shut my opponent down so they don't carry, I will ask for a gank. The key to it is being both polite in your request; "next time ur near mid would u mind ganking me?" and most importantly, don't badger the jungler. There is nothing wrong with asking for or needing a gank, but if you ask every other second and start complaining about not getting one, then you've crossed the line. Jungler's aren't obligated to gank for you, but in general, if you ask they should be willing to help when they can because it is the easiest way for them to also start snowballing the match.

Another thing, when they do happen, I don't expect ganks to always be kills. Especially in lower elo, the lane pressure you instantly get from your jungler poking his head out of a bush is invaluable.

Nucleophilic atk4/12/2015, 2:31:57 PM4 votes

It goes both ways. If you are losing lane terrible (either because you suck or because you don't ward enough and bitch about enemy ganks), then it is not your jungler's fault. That being said, however, your jungler's job is objective control and such...so ganking lanes is a way to do that. If your jungler isn't ganking your lane personally, but others, that's fine. If he is just afk farming the jungle, then he sucks (with few exceptions like certain pre-level 6 champs).

"Lee Sin, can't you gank top already? J4 has been up here three times."

So fucking what? How would Lee Sin ganking top going to stop J4 from going up their the fourth time? And I didn't realize that a jungler has to match another jungler's # of ganks in a lane.

The reason your jungler is not ganking your lane is because

  1. The other two lanes are losing.
  2. The other lanes are playing against their counter.
  3. Your jungler is farming so he can stay on level with everybody else.
  4. You fed your opponent and now he's 2 levels above your jungler.

I've been playing top for a while and majority of the enemy's gank never succeed because I ward and I pay close attention to the minimap and allies' pings. There is never a reason to push pass the middle of your lane unless

  1. You know where their jungler is.
  2. You're committing to a kill.
  3. Knowing 100% you will take down the turret.

No, it's not always worth it to go attack the turret when you kill your lane opponent. It's more productive to push the lane, let your minions do the damage and die to it (which your opponent will lose a whole wave of exp) while you tp back and buy more wards.

If you ever want a gank and/or is offered one, you better

  1. Keep track and give timer/status of enemy flash and ult.
  2. Keep track of enemy ward plus timer in the brush.
  3. Let your jungler know if brush is warded.
  4. Time your engage so you don't get your jungler kill by engaging while you're cs'ing or positioned too far away.

I don't expect ganks but if your jungler doesn't gank any lanes and the other team has a legendary lee sin its kinda his fault if you lose.

Daedalus8714/12/2015, 7:17:38 PM3 votes

I don't expect a gank, but I do expect my jungler to do something.

Eric Senpai4/13/2015, 4:27:57 AM2 votes

Junglers exert a global pressure whenever their positions aren't known. If you play as though your jungler will never help, you play scared and forfeit lane cs. You can never all-in and trades become too risky.

The Trent4/13/2015, 12:51:33 AM2 votes

Just a few questions:

  1. Do you main jungle? Because this sounds like something a jungle main would post.
  2. Have you ever thought about how easy it is to gank/ how needed a gank is on lane bullys to make sure they can't snowball?
  3. What made you want to post this? A bad game as jungle? A good jungler that told you this?
  4. I expect ganks because this is a team game and I don't think a afk farming jungler that doesn't gank and might split push would be good, is this wrong?
Samus Frost4/13/2015, 1:07:47 AM2 votes

I haven't gotten a single jungler gank in 5 weeks. It's been another lane to come help me out once. I could be playing 3v1 in the lane and the jungler on my team will 100% (not an exaggeration I have the matches recorded) ignore my lane entirely. If they do come to my lane it's not to gank but to tax my lane for no reason what so ever. And then when it comes to team fighting I get yelled at for not doing much even though I'm behind by 2 items 3 levels and don't have farm because the enemy team will kick me out of my own lane most of the time. How is it bad for me to be angry with this terrible past few months of this happening?

GGMystic4/13/2015, 11:40:09 AM2 votes

I can't speak for other junglers but I typically decide which lanes I'm going to position myself to gank first by the 1 minute mark after taking into account a couple factors: champs, summoners, current hp, likelihood of countergank, etc.

Here are some advice to players in lanes:

  1. If you want a gank, ask for one asap because junglers have to plan their routes.
  2. If the jungler sets himself to gank your lane, try not to make any unfavorable trades in lane.
  3. If you're uncomfortable with the matchup, tell your jungler ahead of time so he can take that into account when planning his jungle route.
Poenacanuck4/13/2015, 2:21:14 PM2 votes

I JG a fair bit and to me you always have to consider the outcome of a 2v2. If you are two hits from death at your turret at level 3 I think the better option is me covering your tower while you back. For some reason they insist on the gank which best case scenario results in a trade. I tend to play tanky junglers so I do not have crazy burst. Something I struggle with is when all three of my lanes are pushed, I don't really know what to do at that point other than farm and try to guess where the enemy jg will show up. Counter ganking is something I struggle with. I recently dropped from S3 to S5 on a horrendous losing streak so I concede I am doing something wrong. Just my thoughts on the subject.

darkapac4/13/2015, 3:56:44 PM2 votes

I don't care what position you play, If you want to win, Carry.

Now, there are a couple of ways this can be done, but here are the priorities as I see em:

1, Dont Feed.

2, Don't Feed.

3, Don't Feed,

4, Don't be toxic, and by toxic, I mean when someone makes a mistake ... SHUT THE FUCK UP. don't even mention the mistake. Don't say ohh, you should have seen that, or say where the fuck is my wards, or anything. If it's not helpful, like literally saying things such as "Hey, Jungler, stay with X because he needs the backup" or "Damn, I should have warded that bush, sorry" Or anything along the lines of taking the blame or trying to help.... STFU.

5, pay attention to the mini-map for ganks and enemy team. If you don't see the jungler, think of the worst possible position he could be for you, and expect him there. This rule also applies to rules 1-3, but toxicity is so bad for the team I really see it as being more important.

6, If you're a jungler, fucking ping. If not, don't engage without one. I've seen junglers come bot, I've been pushed against the tower, 2 champs almost dead, like 2% health, and the jungler, runs from River to golems or gromp. If you don't ping and you gank, well, too bad for you, thanks for feeding my lane. better you die than the ADC for engaging and you decide not to or we have no fucking clue you're going to engage until you're already up shits creek.

7, If you're playing a Non-kill necessary role(Jungler and Support), remember you're role is to keep the Damage dealers alive, tanks are secondary concern.

8, if you're a tank, pay attention to the makeup of your team. I've seen malphites in games that go Warmogs, Randuins, and Frozen heart against a full AP team.... guess what happened.... Malphite became magmite because his dumbass was melted so quickly.

Anyway, I know that went off topic a bit, but something about this post just hit a nerve!

As long as the jungler doesn't expect help from the lanes he didn't gank, that's fine!

If he gets invaded? Oh well tough titties, jungle is his "lane". Other lanes have their own issues to worry about :)

ModAcademy Kayn5/27/2015, 5:36:40 AM1 votes

I had a Gragas Jungle who gave my opponent Zed his first kill, allowing him to reach Level 6 before me, giving him another kill, and so forth so forth.

Does that count?

Lugg5/27/2015, 5:54:06 AM1 votes

Amen brother. I just had a game as Volibear jungle. The Gnar top died TWICE before I even hit level 3, but it was all my fault since I didn't gank.

Tstrong6/15/2015, 5:11:44 PM1 votes

But I love when someone is calling for ganks and the laner has full health and pushed under their tower...

Worst Azir China4/12/2015, 7:42:21 PM1 votes

I have the same mentality as you man, if you lose your lane it's YOUR fault, you should've played it better, called MIA's, take less risks, think better and actually warding... It is NOT the jungler's fault if you lose it, you could've prevented it. If the enemy jungler ganks you, just get back to the tower, don't worry if you miss CS cuz while he is in your lane getting nothing but taking experience from your enemy laner, your jungler is making plays bot/top. If you waste a summoner it's okay, remember that your death is worse than your flash + it doesn't give your enemies any stats.

Stars Shaper6/15/2015, 5:13:47 PM1 votes

Since I can hold my lane good enough I usually get angry when Bot is a 24/7 2vs3 while our jungler is slowly farming.
