How to keep toxicity from killing your team.

So you're in a ranked game, playing (insert champ here) while another member on your team gives up a killing spree to their lane. Immediately following the sound of "Enemy killing spree" the chat log is filled with things like the following:

"You are terribad" "omfg noob uninstall" "idiot feeder" etc.

Now completely in the mindset that this crap is going to cost you the game (both the feed and the toxic putting the feeder on tilt) what do you do to salvage the situation? Personally I finish winning my lane ASAP, try to help out the feed when I can, then try to get the "get gud scrub" catcalls to stfu. Is this wrong? Reporting doesn't seem to work either, as I've been playing the game for a while and have only received one notification stating "Thank you for your contribution to the rift, recently one of your reports has resulted in the disciplinary action of a summoner."

Toxic people are killing the game hard. The tribunal has been down for god knows how long, no attempt at presenting a timetable has been made for the updates. We need a fix for this fast. /mute all isn't going to fix this either. Please help.

I just tell the toxic player to stop being a dick, and that it's a team game so if they are the ones who are fed, they need to be helping out those who aren't doing so well. It's not entirely their fault if they're feeding, because someone should be looking out for them and encouraging them. If they mess up, tell them it's fine and give tips on how to get better. If the toxic person turns into a complete troll, I just mute them or just reply with ok every time. Honestly, I used to be a really hotheaded person and would shoot back at people but now, I'm just so done that I don't really got time for writing long ass paragraphs about how bad their attitudes are, etc. It's really easy to bring your team's spirits up again just by calling out the cause of the toxicity and trying to be a nice understanding person.

The issue with reporting is that multiple people need to report, so if the person getting flamed just instant leaves then your one report won't help. But yes, winning your lane and helping the losing lane is a good thing. And try to encourage the person who's losing as well, making sure to say GJ and such when he helps or gets a kill. This can help them untilt if they see someone is trying to help them, also try whispering the person getting all the hate and remind them to report. Two should be enough to activate the chat ban.
