Carrying as an AP mid

Can anyone tell me what I can do when it comes to carrying as an AP mid like Syndra. I can crush lane and then go roam and and help get kills and take things like dragon, but my teams never push towers to end the game and it always results in us losing. I can't really push on my own/split push since my aa do little damage and if I'm caught alone I can get killed easily. So, even if I crush lane and we have a kill lead we still throw in the end. It's usually around the 30 min mark when my teams would stop taking objectives and would just farm for whatever reason. When sieging as a team I know you need to ward around your area and behind so you don't get flanked. Any tips? Do I perhaps need to try shotcalling, am I missing something that really important, or should I just stay away from ap mids for the time being when it comes to trying to carry.

I've mained ADC for a long time, but I've gotten tired of it and I decided to learn and main mid to climb in s5. The transition may be what's messing up my games, but I'm not sure.

the thing about roaming is that you should stick with the lane to help them push the turret down. If they don't push it, do it yourself or ask for their help explicitly. you can also ask the jungler to help get dragon, ward enemy jungle, safely push your lane a bit more, etc. Keep the pressure on them, do things to pressure them in different places.

One thing you don't want is to get stale. If you stop doing something productive, it allows the enemy mid to catch up with you. That makes any early game lead you have go down the drain. If it really comes down to it, even consider checking the enemy jungle camps or take some of the smaller camps in your jungle. at that point your jungler should be focusing on ganks anyway.

Do you ping towers and dragon or do you expect your team to automatically do it? I've never had team mates who refused to take an objective once I've pointed out that it was a good time to take one.

I experience similar things when I play with my friend who's less skilled than I am and suffers from chronic ping-proof tunnel vision. When I'm just playing with people of my own skill level, we tend to not run into that as much. When I first got into the game, I played mid more or less constantly, loving it and hating all other positions, eventually getting to the point where I was effectively guaranteed a win in lane as long as I was mid. Eventually I opened up my options to other roles and as I've played more of the others, I've gotten a better feel for when it's safe to go for objectives. Make sure you're checking monster and death timers as well as the health and mana of your allies before suggesting an objective. I still main mid, but as a result of the time spent in other lanes, I've gathered a much greater appreciation for interaction with other lanes, in particular the jungler.

If you're doing all that and you're still not moving up, I'd recommend taking a look at why you aren't moving up. If this is normals/ranked, do you suck at the other roles like I did? In that case, work at the other roles; I personally learned support->adc->top->jungle. If it's teambuilder, what are you doing wrong? The best advice ever given to me was "every game you lose is your fault." It's a great philosophy to focus on your weaknesses to get better and to always check what could be improved.
