On my personal experience on your first time you might wanna start with a build that you find online or from a more experienced player. However as you play make sure you know why that build works and adapt it to the situation and your playstyle. Lots of builds found online are the best for SOME situationa but for some don't work and I can't count the times people build the wrong items cos they saw it online or used by a pro on situations where the build actually hurts them.

You have to addapt your build everygame. Don't just mindlesly build the same items everygame over and over. Look at the enemy team and build according to what kind of dmg they do, how many carries they have etc. Online builds are a good start but you have to build according to the game you are playing.

Start with online guides, but as you grow and understand the game more you will realize that building the same thing in every single game is the best way to fuck yourself over, or at least ID urself as bronze as fuck. There are certain items you'll almost always want, but perhaps the order changes depending on who you are playing against, or if you were put behind early, or even if u got ahead early. Taking into consideration ur team comp, ur lane match up, the other team comp, the early/mid/late game strengths of both teams and what you'll do because of those should all determine how you build.

Often when learning a new champion it can be a good idea to take a look at probuilds.net and check what the pros are currently building on a certain champ. Once you get to know the champion and why everything works you'll slowly learn to adapt your usual build to fit the situation your faced with.

if you're new to the game or don't know how to properly build a champion for a certain role, you should follow guides online because they'll give you a decent starting build to play your champion. Once you learn more about the game and items in general, then you can start making ur own builds and itemize according to the situation instead of following the same build every game which may not be efficient for every game.

I think it's best to look up builds online. Creating your own won't be very effective unless you're experienced and have the champion knowledge to know what items synergize with your champions kit.

Apparently Mobafire tends to have bad guides or something, I heard. Don't use it. (someone correct me if I am wrong)

The site I like to use for guides is Lolking. Just search up on google a guide for your champion, like, "LoL Zed Guide", or something like that. Search for the site you're looking for (in my case, Lolking), and the first one on the list of guides is usually the best guide, or at least one you can trust. Don't be afraid to look in it.

However, you have to remember that sometimes you have to build situationally.

What I do is look online at builds and just take all the items in the build and the alternate items as possible build items. I put all of them into my custom item build in client. Then I take a long look at the champ's stats, skills, cds, damage, ect, and decide what stats I think are good on them. I then pick a handful of builds that all make sense (for example, one build might have item 3156 where another would put item 3026 ). Basically you just don't want to get stats that aren't very useful while still having a 6 item build that's pretty good together.

depends do you know how to build said champ? If yes then go forth and build. If not go to lolpro to get a idea what the pros are building until you get comfortable with the champ.

Online builds usually show you the best case scenario, what's good for your champ and what is not. That said, what items you should buy depends on the enemy team and how good your lane goes.

Say you play mid and the enemy team is full of AD. You wouldn't want an item 3001, even if it's good for your champions kit. You would rather rush a item 3157 instead. Sometimes you are forced to buy a certain item.

You will find a dozen guides that tell you to rush item 3128 and item 3089, but sometimes it's better to get that item 3157 first to avoid that pesky Zed ultimate or whatever the problem is in that specific game.

In other words:

Learn you champion, what stats do you need, what do you need to counter specific comps/what does work well with your team and then adjust your item build according to the situation.

If you have no idea where to start (as you obviously will on your first time playing a champ) start recommended or online. Once you start playing the champions, you can tinker a little better. Just don't do AD Soraka the first time you play. That's asking for people to report you (despite it actually being the most viable Soraka build atm.)

i personaly will go and look up 3 to 5 guides and read them from begining to end to see what seems to be the real core items like example Karthus a core item imo is Deathcap and Voidstaff other guides say his core items are tear and hourglass but you read and adapt your build to how you play. if you never use actives probbably wouldnt be a good idea to play a champ that uses 4 actives now would it? or builds those actives.

Well if you don't know what you are doing, and how your champion scales you should probably just go with an online build Though if you know what you are doing it is probably best to just build things that are appropriate for the situation and game you are in
