[Advice/Help-Wanted] What strategies are there to being able to lane/deal against a Cho'Gath ?

I cannot possibly be the only one who has had trouble or frustrations certain lane-opponents. One of them is a Cho'GathChogath who does things like Rupturing you, even at your turret, just to interrupt a bunch of your C-S. Whilst I do have success half the time solo-laning against a Cho'GathChogath if I go GalioGalio or MalphiteMalphite, the issue still remains that it's like I HAVE to stay at least even if not ahead of Cho'GathChogath to be able to win against Cho'GathChogath in lane, and that can be a bit difficult if Cho'GathChogath is always spamming Ruptures/Silences, followed by regaining all of his HP/MP rather quickly in lane due to his passive.

When I use GalioGalio, the obvious thing I do is just initially try to safely farm up to around 600g for item 3114, working on farming up to a item 3165 to negate some of Cho'sChogath passive, and IF I have NOT fallen behind, I can beat the Cho'Gath consistently in 1v1 skirmishes (same thing against a VladimirVladimir or RumbleRumble for that matter), but falling behind even just a little becomes an absolute night-mare. I need to know if there are other champions that have an easier time laning against a Cho'GathChogath ? I need an additional TANKISH pick that works against Cho'Gath since I find that squishier picks tend to not do anything to him late-game unless it's a TristanaTristana that can just burst him down before Cho'GathChogath even has enough time to attempt any Ruptures.

What else can be done against a Cho'Gath ? I am familiar with laning against the Cho'GathChogath as Kennen Galio Malphite Tristana but it's frustrating as hell at least half the time, with TanaTristana probably giving me my highest rate of success in out-laning him (although I haven't picked TanaTristana against Cho'GathChogath this season, KennenKennen has proven to be a non-optimal choice as a late-game full-build KennenKennen still does zero damages against a late-game full-build Cho'GathChogath , I already explained how I GalioGalio against him, then there's my MalphiteMalphite where I do this unusual thing of Attack-Speed Runes whilst rushing item 3078 (believe it or not, this actually works to burst Cho down faster than he can heal back up in a Skirmish, provided you're NOT [too far] behind, and that is the reason why I go Tri-Forceitem 3078 MalphiteMalphite when I'm facing a Cho'Gath, just as long as you do the Skirmish whilst Malphite'sMalphite ult is available, because you'll be using the Ult of MalphiteMalphite specifically to ult into Cho'GathChogath whilst simultaneously using Malphite'sMalphite Ult to avoid Cho'GathChogath Ruptures, plus it makes last-hitting so much easier), except this is not always reliable unless you can consistently avoid falling behind.

Thus, I make this thread, looking for more details, strategies, advice, champion-picks, anybody with experience being able to consistently lane & counter a Cho'GathChogath, perhaps if anybody can tell me if Tahm-KenchTahmKench might have any level of success against a Cho'GathChogath, and how ? Remember, I want something that works both in lane, AND for the late-game against a Cho'GathChogath, rather than solely the early-game (because in most cases a Cho'Gath main will be able to simply stall for the late-stages). I main the lanes (jungle-role is really my only role-weakness apart from certain problematic picks/lane-opponents).

Too long didn't read. Play a champ that can bully him early. Yasuo Jayce Tryndamere Fiora etc He won't be spamming skills like crazy due to his high mana costs. ask for ganks and let him push the lane and only last hit so a jungler can gank you

As a Cho'Gath main I can at least give some insight on how to fair better against him.

As you probably already know, Cho'Gath has very high mana costs early-game which causes many players to play passive-aggressive, usually with their E or W just to get off damage and farm at the same time. If you can capitalize on these high mana costs by bullying him then you should fair off better.

His Q is rather predictable; if you're walking in a straight line then you're leaving yourself open to a Rupture which will allow him to close the gap very quickly, try a zig-zag motion to try and make him guess where you're going to be, there is a split second before the Rupture actually damages, might not be that long when you're actually in-game but it's a second that you can use to get out of trouble and even punish him for it if it misses.

His W is the main problem, it's a very long and annoying silence that can ruin any top laners day, usually most will max this first for the utility it can bring to a fight since it's able to shut down entire teams very quickly. The best tip I can offer for this is try to bait it out; if you see him going for a Q then he'll most likely follow up with his Silence to deny you any real damage on him, the best thing I could recommend to make it easier would be to buy item 3111 to reduce the duration of the silence; it might be a small decrease (2.5 > 1.8 I believe) but the less time you're silence is more time you can damage him or try and escape.

His E isn't that much of a problem early-game, sure it lets him farm much easier and harass if possible but the damage is quite poor until he gets item 3027 where it spikes quite considerably, if you can try and bully him during the level 1 phase and deny him as much farm as possible, push him under tower and try to keep him there but always keep an eye out for possible ganks, he's a very strong initiator and can capitalize on ganks very efficiently if he can land any of his abilities on you. I would recommend buying at least a Banshee, or some form of MR against him just to minimize his damage against you, and make your life a little easier when going against him.

His ult is a big problem as well, the huge true damage it gives it frustrating as hell especially when he combo's with his Q > W which 90% of the time will lead to him getting a guaranteed feast stack if it hits; Of course, using feast on a champion only works if they're low so he can get the stack, so the best time to perhaps advance on him is when his R is on cooldown, it might be only 30 seconds, but a huge portion of his damage will have dissapeared giving you time to hit him hard and remove that feast stack; the less stacks Cho'Gath has, the less of a threat he is.

Champion wise, anyone who has great mobility to avoid his ruptures/silence works great against, if they're constantly moving then Rupture is incredibly hard to land and it's wasted mana, but ranged champions also work good against him, those who can harass like Tristana and keep him playing cautiously and perhaps deny him farm.

That's just my little snippet; but I hope it provides some help.
